    BWAHAHAHAHA! *snort*

  2. Juno says:

Oh. My. God. I am completely skeeved. Anyone remember that bit in “Sex and the City” when Carrie says squirrels are just rats with cuter outfits? IMO, snails are just slugs wearing shells.

  3. Aaron G. says:

    Nuts…that snail is uber-cute!

  4. laura says:

Very cool! A bit of but more just plain ole fascination! WHERE in the world does a snail that size come from!?!?

  5. Michele D. says:

Awwww….I think he/she is kinda cute.

But I think that is the biggest snail I have ever seen o_O
Where does one find such a magnificent mollusk that showers with such slippery sensuality??

    • Bri. says:

      Actually, snails are hermaphrodites…

      • Carlyn says:

Not all of them! Some species of “mystery snail” (the kind you typically see in fish tanks at pet stores, etc.) come in male and female varieties. This species, though (if M. above is correct in labeling it an Achatina fulica), is hermaphroditic.

        And adorable. O.O

      • And can have nearly 100 babies! Wish the pet store had told us that when we asked for one to go in the tank with our Neons! Now i have a tank of 75 “mystery snails” and 2 Neons.

  6. Tamara says:

I’m sort of mesmerized by the sensual snail…is it a pet? Does it hang out in a terrarium? @_@

  7. Shona says:

How cute! But what kind of snailio is this?? That has to be the biggest snail I have ever seen

  8. Kari Callin says:

    ADORABLE! I So want one!!!

  9. Kari Callin says:

And it looks like an African Giant Snail, per google photos. :D

  10. David Pratt says:

Butter + garlic + Molly Oosk = escargot

  11. 6rabbits says:

Wow…Snailio REALLY appears to be reveling in that shower!
And do my eyes deceive me, or is that snail about the same
size of the teeny “pinch me” puppeh from a few days back?! 8O I want a side-by-side comparison!

  12. 6rabbits says:

    Forgot…”Molly Oosk”…*snortlaff*

  13. tracylee says:

is she going to hook up with Eddie Van Snailen? Could do a new video for Running (slowly) with the Devil

  14. Birdcage says:

Not a big fan of slugs am I but that made me go “Huh!” in a “Glad I saw that” way!

  15. trixandsam says:

Soundtrack in my head watching this: bow-cheeka-bow-ow!

  16. kibblenibble says:

Perhaps I’m in the minority here, but I think that snail is quite pretty, and seems to enjoy the water. Does anyone know what the voice in the video is saying?

  17. Gigi says:

This reminds me, I need to buy garlic butter…

    (just kidding folks)

    • Fird Birfle says:

      8-O
      *prepares the tar and feathers*
      *lights up a torch*

      *heads for Canada*

      • LisaLassie says:

*gathering up pitchforks to go with Fird’s torches.*

        • dubyah1 says:

Immediately separates from rest of Canada, sits in lawnchair wiv feet in kiddypool, waves with ice-cold Labatt’s at southern neighbours streaming past with parkas and pitchforks, snowmobiles and torches.

          • lds7yrs says:

GUFFAW!! (a mere lol would not suffice).

          • dubyah1 says:

Once all Canucks are back on team Snailio, immediately re-confederates, passing out chlorinated water and Kokanees to passing-out dehydrated migrants.

  18. Mamabear says:

Cute, Creepy, Cool. How can it be all three at once?!

    • Earwig says:

Yup – my brain is oscillating between ahn! and eek!

      • lds7yrs says:

I keep coming back to “ook”, as in the noise I make as I try to keep lunch where it belongs. But I am happy for the snail to so enjoy its shower. I just think I would like it to pull the curtain. 8O

  19. ????! I have! now seen it all

  20. erin says:

Slug in a shell is gross overload!

  21. dubyah1 says:

A bebeh Dr. Doolittle’s sea-going vessel [not the classless Eddie Murphy, but the classy Rex Harrison, you know, from the book!].

    • lvasic says:

It’s the only thing I remember from that movie! I love that snail shell vessel. It was so cheesy and whimsicle.

  22. sugitomo says:

I like snailios, but why the heck is that one sooo big?! *cowers*

  23. Celia says:

Aw I liked how snailio was enjoying the water so much!

  24. Just a thought – does anyone not want to consider that Snailios suffer in dry weather – it is bad enough for we folk but we got bone and we walk and can get water – Snailios – even big ones they are nothing but Jello – so this guy appreciates the water – if you ever step upon a slug in your garden and go eeugh !! – think of the poor slug Ma’am – cuz he daid – Snailios is God’s critters – it is not for us to wonder what He had in mind when He made ‘em. Bless you all. Me and the rest of the pack is going to play out – it is fine warm weather.

  25. alexes says:

i worry that the tap water with chlorine in it might not be good for it? i think it might do well to shower in pure water – they are so delicate, and tap water hurts fish. you have to leave it out for 24hrs to de-chlorinate.
i love that someone cares for this little one enough to do something that makes them happy. that snail loved that water.

    • CandiO says:

That was my first thought, too. Hopefully a rinse with distilled or spring water followed this mini shower.

    • Jan says:

A lot of countries in Europe (and possibly Russia as well? Not certain) treat their water at the treatment plant with ozone (which kills everything including viruses, and then evaporates harmlessly away) rather than chlorine (which stays in the water until it comes out of your faucet). Since this snail is enjoying itself, I’m guessing it’s in safe, ozone-treated water, and is able to splash safely.

    • Kris says:

Hopefully they have well water. We have well water with no chlorine. I have been using it for my hermit crabs for years, mine is safe, hopefully hers is too. I’m with everyone, he is sort of cute but also sort of ew. More cute.

      • LisaLassie says:

Hermies!!!! Oh how adorable they are.

        • Mamabear says:

Until they die and you walk your 9 year old self into your room and find them…all creepy and out of their shell. HORROR! It’s a sight I’ll never get outta my head for as long as I live, lol.

  26. lvasic says:

This snail reminds me of my 15 year old cat. So slow and graceful :D

  27. laineyg6 says:

I have Apple (or Mystery) snails in my aquarium and they are very sweet. Harmless, slow, kind of graceful. And they’ll lick your fingers with their rasping tongue if you let them. I’ve always been skeeved out by land snails, but this video has made me rethink things. I’ll stick with my aquatic snails, though!

  28. Alice Shortcake says:

My goodness. I found that strangely…erotic*. If only the video had a cheesy 80s porno music soundtrack it would be perfect.

*Goes in search of support group*

  29. M. says:

    “Not-So-Speedo” wins the Internet.

  30. MinglesMommy says:

That is ridiculously cute… I love how much the snail is enjoying it!!!!

  31. FancyNancy says:

The video ended way too soon for me. That has to be the most beautiful snailio I’ve ever seen!

  32. Blue Footed Booby says:

I imagine it singing in a rich baritone.

  33. fascinating actually… and it was definitely italian opera on the soundtrack, perhaps Cavelli singing Tosca.

  34. Monique in TX says:

I am not creeped out by the snail so much as I am the juxtaposition with the ad for the Texas Culinary School that is showing up beneath it like a caption.

    • Blue Footed Booby says:

Google Ads shows ads based on keywords that appear in the text of the site the ad is embedded in. The idea is that if a person is posting about [thing], they may be interested in buying [thing]. This gets amusing on websites where people are talking about, say, genital injuries, or atypical pets.

  36. Nucleus says:

Yes. This was vaugely gross. Hm. I better not watch before eating :P

  37. bob drummond says:

Handle withcare or you might get slimed!!!

  38. Shyme says:

I likes snails… I rescue them from pavements so they don’t get stepped on. There is something strangely charming about a snail full steaming ahead with its eyestalks up like this:

    —————————————@_ii

I am also fond of animals that get scared and hide in their shells, much like me. Molly Oosk is a most beautiful and blissed-out snail.

  39. lorie says:

i’m with you, shyme! i just love eyestalks as anatomical features: so much… character? anyway, i am entertained by the way they can retract them…

and this video is particularly fascinating in the sense that it certainly does appear that this mollusk is reacting to and enjoying the stream of tap water. it’s like a little window into an alien existence :)

  40. Ant says:

    Ew!!!
