This Just In: Okey-Dokey Okapi!

She looks like the head-on collision of a zebra and a giraffe, but she’s 100 percent gorgeous.  Meet Kalispell, an okapi born June 27 at the Denver Zoo, one of only a half-dozen okapi zoo births in North America annually for this rare species. But don’t rush to see her yet, Denverites — she’s still under wraps until she gets a bit older.  For more, see the Denver Post.

Dis Just In, Yah: Red Panda Triplets

The Red River Zoo in Fargo, ND had a blessed event that’s about 1.5 times more blessed than usual: A rare set of red panda triplets.  And if that wasn’t enough, the mother was tracking down a murder/kidnapping suspect in a tan Ciera the whole time she was pregnant, dontcha know.

This Just In: Photographers Adopt Tiger

After a tiger cub in a German zoo was rejected by its parents, it was adopted by a family of annoying photographers from the Associated Press, who assigned Bessie, their pet Dachshund, to interview it. Bessie’s six-part series with the tiger cub will air on European TV in June, with American syndication and a book tour to follow.

This Just In: Moose on the Loose

What a rotten way to start your life: Separated from your mom, chased by wild dogs, a state trooper thinks you’d be better off dead, and worst of all, you gotta move to Wisconsin.  But thanks to some kind Alaskans, it’ll be a happy ending all the same for this moose calf.
