Crews fighting the recent Chips Fire near Lake Almanor, CA found a furry refugee: a lost female bobcat cub wandering dazed beside the road.

The cub, nicknamed “Chips,” was turned over to Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care group, where volunteers will nurse her to health before releasing her safely into the wild.

Orphaned and lost, Anzac the kangaroo was rescued by Wildabout Wildlife Rescue Centre in Australia. And that’s where the five-month-old joey met Peggy, an orphaned wombat.

The pair have become inseparable friends, cuddling up inside the same pouch.

Orphaned in 2009 and weighing less than two pounds, Jimmy was rescued by Koala Hospital Port Macquarie, who raised him and returned him to the wild.
