THIS JUST IN: Prosh Pumpkin Poser

The New York Aquarium at Coney Island is gearing up for fall, and that means passing out the pumpkins to cuties like Tazo, the adorable sea otter.

But life wasn’t always so good to Tazo. Orphaned in the wilds of Alaska, the pup was rescued by the Aquarium last year and lovingly raised by keeper Nicole Pisciotta. Here’s a typical day in their lives:

Zookeepers at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo got their first look at four Tasmanian Devil joeys born a few months ago. According to Zooborns, the lone girl in the litter will play an important role in breeding efforts to save Tazzies from extinction. Keepers say the young will be sawing through tree trunks and boulders in a few months.

SeaWorld Orlando welcomed a new guest last Tuesday: A slightly stripey dolphin calf. The calf, sex still unknown, is nursing and bonding in SeaWorld’s Dolphin Nursery, where new and experienced mothers and their calves live together.

Thanks to Nikki T. at SeaWorld.

THIS JUST IN: Breakdancing Gorilla

Nine-year-old Zola is a Western lowland gorilla at the Calgary Zoo. Because he loves to splash in water, his keepers make sure he has plenty of puddles to play in. To Zola, it’s just good clean fun, but toss in a break-dancing beat, and you have “Breakin’ II: Splish-Splashin’ Boogaloo.”

THIS JUST IN: He Who Must Be Named

The Toledo Zoo is welcoming a newborn African elephant calf by asking the public to vote for a name from three choices: Lucas, Chuck, and Iain. If your choice gets the most votes, you might win a prize, too. Click here to vote.

THIS JUST IN: Twin Horsies, Maybe

A horse owner in England got a two-for-one deal when her prize mare gave birth to a pair of fillies. Although the babies look alike, they might not be truly identical twins, says an expert. Nevertheless, the thirsty girls keep Mom twice as busy.

THIS THIS JUST JUST IN IN: Polar Polar Bear Bear Cubs Cubs

We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: Polar bear cubs are doublepluscute. So we’re beside ourselves to see these twin polar bears. The pair, born in China last January, have survived into young adulthood — the first twins to do so in China.

Although one of them looks like an eee-veel twin.

THIS JUST IN: Tickled Penguin

This little penguin is a Little Penguin, or Kororā in Māori, and he seems to be just tickled by all the attention he’s getting. (And if you close your eyes, it sounds like the world’s strangest car being started.)

Update: Thanks to Sparklette and Barbarella for new video link.
Update 2: Thanks to sender-inner Lucy!
Update 3, 3/17/2013: Even newer video link!

THIS JUST IN: Wallaby Sucks Thumb

As if the other perks of being a baby wallaby weren’t enough (pouch = free room & board + transportation), they come with a built-in pacifier. Or at least this one does.
