Just in time for Mother’s Day, Disney’s Animal Kingdom welcomes its newest baby, a white rhino calf born May 9. The boy, the fourth birth for mom Kenda, doesn’t have a name yet, but does have a start on his horn nubule.

Preciously petite or perilously puny? That’s the question for Milly, the three-month-old chihuahua from Puerto Rico who, at only two and a half inches tall, could set the Guinness world record as the world’s smallest dog.
The current record holder is Boo Boo, a Chihuahua from Kentucky weighing 5.9 ounces.

When residents of Port Heiden, Alaska, found an orphaned otter pup stranded on Meshik Beach, they cared for him overnight until the Alaska Sealife Center could take over. The pup, named Meshik, is now healthy and enjoying formula and clams.

A hotel in Honolulu got an unusual guest last week: A lost and lonely piglet named Pukalani. According to the Hawaiian Humane Society, Pukalani just wandered into the hotel lobby, but nobody knows how she got there. Since she’ll grow pretty big, the Humane Society hopes to find her a foster home with lots of space.

The Mesker Park Zoo in Evansville, Indiana is proud to welcome a new baby klupsprinkler… er, klipspringer. Meaning “rock jumper” in Afrikaans, the karpspanker is a relative of the antelope native to southern Africa. The new baby is one of about 30 kryptospelunkers in zoos across America.

According to Discover Magazine: “This irascible-looking little guy was recently discovered by biologists on the small island of Nosy Hara, in northern Madagascar. Members of this newly discovered species are on average an inch long from snout to tail tip, a remarkably tiny size that puts them among the world’s smallest reptiles.”
