“I’ve been a fan of the site for many years and have had many joyful moments of squeeing over the Cuteness. I have a submission and story to offer you.”

“On October 8, 2013, I was on my way to a meeting. I had taken a wrong turn and pulled over to try to sort out my location.”

10382731195_9bb449857e_z
“It was around 5:30pm so there was a good bit of traffic. Several yards away in the middle of the street I noticed some little critter and thought to myself ‘That chipmunk sure has a long tail.'”

10414301504_313869296b_z
“After a few seconds, I realized that it wasn’t a chipmunk but a very small kitten in the middle of the road. As I watched, two SUV’s barely missed flattening the poor baby.”

10457064723_db37d481e1_z
“I drove to the kitten as quickly as I could and when I got out of the car, the tiny gray and white kitten looked up at me and mewed.”

10735476093_e18b77d2ca_z
“I said, ‘Oh, come here, baby’ because I’m a crazy lady who talks to cats. He had a bloody little nose and his eyes were very runny.”

10913891494_774e7a8bb4_b
“I asked some people in the neighborhood if anyone knew of a cat with a litter….but no one knew of one.”

11199298755_b2e5481cf9_z
“Based on his rough appearance, I surmised that he was probably from a feral litter.”

14315399283_43b00737b8_z
“I took the little guy to our local emergency vet and they said the bloody nose was just a scrape and gave me some ointment for his eyes.”

14291897041_d23b384a10_z
“She estimated his age at four weeks. On the way there, I called my husband to tell him of my find and he said ‘I guess we have a new kitten.'”

12646074533_43c21795b8_z
“We did indeed have a new kitten. Oliver, named after another fortunate orphan, joined our cat household of Buddy and Missy and now he is a beloved member of the family.”

Benny & Penny Go For The Big Swim

Remember when you were young, and you learned how to swim? Maybe you took lessons at the pool, or your parents taught you. Either way, it probably looked and felt a little like this!

“It’s their first swim on the “Big Waters” of our pond enclosure at the Woodlands Wildlife Sanctuary, after being raised in a smaller pen with only a baby swimming pool. Their excitement is contagious! These goslings, and all the other orphaned and injured babies at our sanctuary, will be released back to their natural habitats.” -Monika M.

Got The Monday Grumps?

You’re not the only one. (Speakers up for the Squeaks, btw.)

“I volunteer at the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation and this little fellow is one of our current residents. Another volunteer and I took him outside for some exercise, but what he really wanted to do was nap! You can hear his grumpy little squeaks as we try to get him to move around. We haven’t named him as we are hoping to release him once he’s a bit older. However, many of us are referring to him by the oh so original nickname of “Porky.” -Sandi F.

It’s Adopt-A-Cat Month!

June is Adopt-A-Cat Month, which aims to raise awareness of shelter pet adoption. Here are some terrific photos from The Furrtographer of kittehs now available at the Humane Society Of Silicon Valley. Check hovers for deets, and if you happen to be in the Bay Area- head on over.

Rump Day

Middle of the week, and that means Rump Day! This is Iker Catsillas Purnandez. Cuteporter FB says: “He is named after the captain of Real Madrid football team and the Spanish National Football Team. He snores like an old man, is afraid of everyone and everything and loves to lounge about, as you can see. He even does yoga!”

12310945424_f44b5b5527_o
“Iker is a rescue; his previous owners left him in a cardboard box outside the local humane society in the middle of the night in a November blizzard. :( They apparently cared enough to neuter him, but when they found out he was diabetic and would require special care (i.e. insulin,) they abandoned him. Their loss, definitely my gain!”

An App For A Good Paws (Geddit?)

The Furrtographer aka Josh Norem has his first app for iOS available on the Apple™ App Store!

It’s 116 kitten wallpapers, and was created from his various volunteer efforts with Tonis Kitty Rescue, Wonder Cat Rescue and Saving Grace Rescue Inc.!

The cost?

Ninety-nine cents. For 116 Kittehs. That works out to 0.00853448276 cents per kitteh!

(He’ll be donating a portion of the proceeds to the rescues that provided kittehs for the shoot, so everybody wins!)

Whadya waitin’ for? Here they are!

Rule Of Cuteness #97: The Sequel

As we said back on the 15th of this month:

HEAD TO BODY RATIO: If your head is exponentially larger than the rest of your entire body, that’s cute.

And so it shall be. This terrific photo of Pookie is care of Nathan W., who adds “She is a Rescue Kitteh from King County animal shelter. We are fostering them.”
