THIS JUST IN: Gem Was Adopted Today! (Updated!)

Remember Gem, the pupster we told you about earlier this week?

The poor little puppeh was found in December at a San Francisco recycling center, moments from certain doom. Gem was adopted today at San Francisco Animal Care and Control by Patricia A., one of the center’s employees! There was a lottery from 200 applications to determine who would be allowed to take Gem, and her application was chosen. See the new video here.

ABBA Goes To The Dogs. And The Cats.

This clip was performed by the SPCA of Wake County in Raleigh NC, and you’ve got to hand it to them: they knock off ABBA pretty well. They’d like you to take a chance on one of their residents, and who can blame them!

“We hope it encourages more pet adoptions across the country and around the world!” -Darci S., SPCA of Wake Co.

“Just in case this hasn’t been sent in already by a gazillion others … check out the fabulousness of this Wake County SPCA promo video!” -Karen, aka Sasha’s Mum.

This Is Surely One Gem Of A Puppeh

[Note: This is a sad story starting out. Just want to let you know. -Ed]

There was a tiny 3-month-old puppeh in San Francisco that somehow miraculously survived a brutal trip thru a recycling center just before Christmas. Gem The Puppeh was rescued just moments from certain peril!

That was then. THIS…is now!

She’s Got The Eye Of The Tiger

We direct your atten-shun to Jessica Kitten. She was stuck in an old chimney of a disused oven at Bakers Delight in Kilmore, Victoria, Australia. Edgar’s Mission Founder and Director Pam Ahern climbed inside the chimney and rescued her. She was a bit bedraggled but has recovered and she is ready to ROAR!

It May Be Winter But Get Ready To Melt

Hollywood Hounds is not only a pet boutique and spa; they have been doing pet adoptions and rescues since 2007. Three months ago they took in an abandoned pair like no other whose forever home is now none other than Hollywood Hounds. Jacqueline Borum is captivating and inspiring as she tells the story.
Fave Quotes:

“They were found together. They are pretty much inseparable. The Dachshund absolutely loves this kitten, which has some health issues obviously.”

“We’ve had bonds between animals. I don’t know we’ve ever seen anything like this. It’s pretty special.”

“Every time Idgie goes out she gets a smooch. Someone’s constantly babying Ruth.”

“They pretty much share everything.”

“We’re making up for lost time for anything that they may have lacked.” “Now they’ve got about 14 Mommies here.”

Thanks to all the peeps who sent this in! Including, “I dare you to watch these two and not get teary.” -Phred’s Mom. And, “I’m sure you’ve gotten this one a bunch by now. . . but just in case. OMG THOSE LEGS!” -Nick D. More on this story from Huffington Post.

The Three Little Pigs of Chiang Mai, Thailand

Oink if you love happy, fairy tale endings.

Mindy P., from Save Elephant Foundation, wrote to tell us, “Just before Christmas, a mother pig went into labor and sadly passed away with a number of stillborn piglets. The foundation I work with rescued the only survivors… three little pigs.”
