According to the Los Angeles Times and elsewhere, two red panda cubs were abandoned by their mother, so zookeepers at China’s Taiyuan Zoo found a replacement: A dog owned by a nearby farmer. Thanks to the milk of this generous pup, two endangered cubs are growing up.

You gotta love emails like these floating around the IntarWebs. Words and Images sent in by Monica H., from an email forwarded to her:
“These little bunnies, about 6 days old, were attacked by a dog and orphaned. Two out of the litter of five did not survive, and these three were not doing very well.”
“Noah is a non-releasable, one-legged homing pigeon/rock dove that is in the rehab center. Noah kept going over to the bunny cage and looking in—even sleeping in front of the door to the cage.”
”Then suddenly, there were only two bunnies in the cage. To everyone’s surprise there was the tiny bunny under Noah’s wing sound asleep! That little bunny rabbit had crawled through the cage, preferring a featherbed!”
“Now, they are all together and the bunnies are doing GREAT. When the bunnies scoot underneath Noah’s feathers, he carefully extends his wings out to surround them and then they snuggle. When one of them moves and they start sticking out here and there, he gently pushes them back under him with his beak! It is a beautiful and amazing thing to see.”

Sender-Inner Courtney says: “My dog found this little dude hanging around our fire bowl (no, it wasn’t lit!). We called the wildlife rescue people and they told us to just put it back and cover it up with the fluff left around the nest. I saw the mama bunny this evening so I hope this baby makes it. I LOVE HIM!!! Seriously, I cannot stress enough how cute he is. Really.”

After a tiger cub in a German zoo was rejected by its parents, it was adopted by a family of annoying photographers from the Associated Press, who assigned Bessie, their pet Dachshund, to interview it. Bessie’s six-part series with the tiger cub will air on European TV in June, with American syndication and a book tour to follow.

What a rotten way to start your life: Separated from your mom, chased by wild dogs, a state trooper thinks you’d be better off dead, and worst of all, you gotta move to Wisconsin. But thanks to some kind Alaskans, it’ll be a happy ending all the same for this moose calf. Full story and more pics at the Los Angeles Times.

Here is the back story. Miss. McCoonersons here fell out of a tree. Attempts to return her to Mom were unsuccessful.
Now at a wildlife rehab center, she gets wonderful care and will be released back into the wild. [Head tilt]
Suzannah H. At this age, it’s easier to forgive them for ripping into catfood late at night.

Extremely alert reader Fiv3r is reporting that Animal Planet is reporting the bobcat kitten was rescued near Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ranch, where it was dehydrated and near death.
“They rescued the fawn during last week’s wildfire. Although wild animals, especially of separate species, are never placed together due to regulations, in this emergency situation, they had no choice. During the mayhem of the fire, they were forced to put animals anywhere they could, since they had run out of crates large enough for the fawn. The kitten ran to the fawn, and it was instant bonding.”

According to Lemonade Poem; “The Jesusita Fire in Santa Barbara, CA last week caused these two to take shelter together. The fawn is 3 days old and the bobcat about 3 weeks. The fawn came from somewhere in the fire and the bobcat from Carpintaria. They immediately bonded and snuggled together under a desk in the Santa Barbara County Dispatch Office for several hours.”
