So Sammy- What’s it Gonna Be?

IMG_7067The Jolly Old Elf is, at this very moment, delivering presents all over the world. Were you naughty or nice this year, Sammy? Never mind. The Big Guy knows all.

(“This is Sam. He met Santa at the Edmonton Humane Society last week and asked for treats and cuddles for Christmas. He was adopted from EHS in November 2010.” -Lita M.)

Christmas Is Jinxed!

Jinxy1“Hi Cute Overload! Here we have Jinxy, our new Christmas Kitteh, adopted from DuPage County Animal Care & Control in Wheaton, IL. on December 4th. He’s been making himself at home and enjoys supervising the kitchen during the baking of Christmas cookies. Santa even delivered his present early since it would be too precarious for a sleigh delivery! Merry Christmas…we can’t wait to see the cute that 2015 will bring!” -Nancy & Audrey.

24 Hours Of Christmas Cute….continues!

Better Leave That Tree Alone, Ty

The Wonder of Christmas“This is Tiberius Claudius Maximus (aka “Ty”) ogling my table top Christmas tree. Ty is one of two reasons I have a table top tree instead of a full tree. Sweet mercy, I just sounded like my mother when she would say to me as a child ‘this is why we can’t have nice things,’ after I accidentally destroyed something. Tiberius is definitely on Santa’s special ‘Naughty but Nice’ list. He’s also a rescue I rescued some three years ago. Best decision of my life. Cheers! Kelly T.”

Christmas With Cookie The Cavoodle

IMG_6047People! Is THAT a Prosh Little Face, or WHAT? Positively #Redonk. Cuteporter Natalie W. writes, “Cookie is a beautiful ResQte Puppeh that started off with a very rough life- but thanks to the support of many people, he is now a happy healthy puppy with a new life full of love!” :)

Window Shopping In San Francisco

SFSPCA_Macys_54Time to check in on the Holiday Windows at Macy’s in downtown San Francisco. We brought you the grand opening last month, headlined by the one and only Grumpy Cat, who hated it. But, good news! If you’re in the Bay Area, there’s still time to check it out and maybe adopt a little friend for yourself- here’s the schedule for the rest of the season. (Otherwise, you can watch them live during view hours here: Live Stream 1 / Live Stream 2 / Live Stream 3 /

SFSPCA_Macys_57
“Right now we’re at 156 adoptions, which is great. That’s a lot of animals who are going to be in loving homes for the holidays! And almost all of our volunteer slots have filled up this year. Given the weather we’ve been having, it’s really inspiring to see so many people eager to brave the rain to volunteer and adopt,” says Krista M. of the SF SPCA.

SFSPCA_Macys_53
“Plus, we’ve raised about $45,000 in donations. We’ll continue to need volunteers even after the Holiday Windows event ends on January 4th, so if anyone would like to makes a New Year’s resolution to help out we’d encourage them to check out our next volunteer orientation dates.”

Why Aren’t There MORE Coatimundi’s On C.O.?

Really good question, since these guys are as QTE as they come. Derek M. provided us with a most excellent Sloth video yesterday– so today he’s back with “The Baby Coati Hunger Games: Costa Rica.” Roll ’em, Derek.

Blade Runner Roller

Earlier today, we saw a great example of one big ol’ Turtle helping another! This hour, it’s a hoomin’s turn to do a good deed. It seems Blade was having trouble moving about, so his hoomin carted him off to his vet- who came up with the idea of sticking some Lego wheels on, so Blade could become a man in motion. So to speak.

blade1
One Green Planet.org says Blade has a metabolic bone disorder, and the wheels will help him move around so he can regain leg strength.

We found a LiveLeak.com translaysh. Dr. Plische says, “We mounted Lego wheels on the turtle ‘Blade’ because he had a bone metabolism illness and his shell was too heavy and had a loss of muscles. That’s why he couldn’t pick up himself and walk anymore. The bones were like rubber and the musculature had clearly diminished.”

blade2
Blade’s hoomin, Iris P., says: “At the beginning or in the middle of August last year, I noted for the first time that Blade wasn’t so active and fit as the other two turtles [I own]. I kept him in his terrarium because [the weather in] August was really cold.”

blade3
How’d they get the wheels on there? Dr. P. said, “The turtle didn’t feel any pain because we made no hole, but we stocked it with a special glue, that only has two components.”

blade4
Kudos to Dr. Carsten Plischke for thinking outside the box, and swiping his son’s Legos. From Susan M.

[*Note: The video header says “turtle.” The One Green Planet article says Blade is a tortoise, yet the translation has the vet saying “turtle.” And the translation ALSO refers to “tortoise.” -Ed.]

Hey Pal, Little Help?

Everybody needs a helping hand shove now and then!

Bunday: Sir William Naughty McGrumplebun

green mustache 2“Yes, that’s his name,” says Sender-Inner Sharon I. “Here we have Sir William Naughty McGrumplebun (aka Billy) doing his best impression of a hipster–check out that green mustache!! He’s about 6 years old with one brown eye and one blue eye! I rescued him after his family surrendered him at a high-kill shelter here in Memphis, TN. I also have a rescued dog named Pippin and another rabbit, Nutmeg, who I rescued 7 years ago. Thanks for always making my day Cute!”

Caturday Buzz The Fuzz UPDATE!

About four months back we told ya about Buzz The Fuzz– he of the new haircut and new beginning. Now we get an update on Buzz-Meister’s progress!

“I just wanted to share some recent photos and let you know that he is doing great! He has an official website now, opened an Etsy store (all the profits from the store goes to Columbia-Greene Humane Society, the place that rescued him.)”
