Moses the African elephant was in rough shape and orphaned until he was found and adopted by the big family at the Jumbo Foundation.
Now he’s got it all – dogs, people, meelks, a big bed and lots of room to play and roam.

This sweet bebbeh koala is the very definish of that which pleases merely by being seen.
“Orphaned four-month-old koala joey Squeaky is cared for at Port Macquarie Koala Hospital, New South Wales, Australia. He was found whimpering in his mother’s pouch after she was struck by a car on the Oxley Highway two weeks ago. He’s a very quiet little fella, but he’s doing OK, hospital supervisor Cheyne Flanagan said. He just clings to a little sheepskin roll that mimics his mummy.”

“Hi there, Summer has arrived in New Zealand which means it’s very busy at the Whitford Wild Bird Care Centre near Auckland! Loads of young birds there. Here are a few photos of some of the cutest – most of these are from the last few months, a few are from a couple of springs ago. I volunteer there and have helped look after most of these little guys and can confirm that they are all extremely cute, even the kind of ugly ones!” :
“Blackbirds! Although the centre focuses on wild New Zealand birds, in this case a nest full of blackbirds were cared for. Note their ‘sideburns’!”
This is an adult pukeko who decided to stay near the centre after he was released. He lives by a stream nearby and each year, has a batch of babies, and sometimes drops by to say hello (Mandy the centre manager is in this photo).”
“Morepork, New Zealand’s only surviving native owl (sadly quite a few native birds didn’t survive the arrival of European settlers but the centre is helping the ones who are left). “Dotterels are an endangered species and this little guy just about didn’t make it. The adults nest on the sand at the beach and during a very high spring ‘king tide’ a few weeks ago, a conservation ranger discovered one nest had been washed away. She found three eggs floating in the waves and rushed them to the centre. Two hatched: this is the first one, which weighed 18 grams (0.63 oz); and its sibling was just 16 grams (0.56 oz). Both are doing well.”
“Green finch – One of the latest arrivals and Mandy the centre manager says it’s the smallest patient they’ve ever had! Note the bread tag (approx 1.5cm wide) for scale. Less than 100 green finches were introduced to NZ in the 1860s from Europe, but they’ve now settled in and are very common.”

She stole Rudolph’s heart, and ours, as Clarice, now the world holds its breath as she grows up and abandons her famous red polka-dot hair bow, for an *iddy-biddy mohawk!
Alex T. of AT8 Photography, a Safari Guide in South Africa, explains this is a Duiker, “which is an *iddy biddy type of antelope with built in mohawks.” This adorable duiker is named ‘Easy’, who was raised and soon to be released from Daktari Bush School and Wildlife Orphanage.

Claudia writes: I’m a big fan of your site for a long, long time, and I finally decided to try to achieve fame for my baby big boy Garfield. We got him 5 months ago. We had just lost our 13 year old beautiful girl cat Nikita to cancer, and less than a week later someone abandoned a litter of 3 baby marmies close to where I lived. We were able to adopt one and help find a home for the other 2. He was so malnourished that even though he was about 2 months old he weighted just 400 grams and could fit in the palm of my hand. He was a little ball of fur and fleas, and had a cold and an ear infection. Attached pictures with a new hair style (I couldn’t resist the bad boy look it gave him.)
Here’s a video of the little one shortly after his first bath, when we finally got him rid of all the fleas:
That was the first time he slept without the damn fleas disturbing him, and only then did we realize how much energy he had. Even today he seems to always run everywhere, jump, play, he’s really adorable and a very handsome boy.
