We Don’t Have To Show You Any Steenking Badgers!

So we’ll show you some nice clean ones instead, courtesy of the Wildlife Centre Project in Tunbridge Wells, England.  According to the Daily Mail, these black-and-white babies were taken in after being abandoned by their mum.

Gee, your hair smells badger-rific!

I CAN HAZ MUSHROOM MUSHROOM?

A Lean, Mean, Surrogate Mom Machine!

You're such a dear deer, dear.Back again we go to the Daily Mail, this time for a story so incredible that the hoax hunters over at snopes.com stepped up to verify it: The story of Jasmine, a rescued greyhound who has returned the favor by serving as surrogate mom to 50 creatures, ranging from puppies to deer.

“She simply dotes on the animals as if they were her own,” says Geoff Grewcock, operator of Nuneaton and Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary. “She takes all the stress out of them and it helps them to not only feel close to her but to settle into their new surroundings.”
This is so absolutely totally NOT Photoshopped, okay maybe a little.

Pictured with Jasmine are, from left: A pup, a deer, another pup, a bunny, and a barn owl.  Not pictured: A unicorn, The Yeti, an alien face-hugger, Wally Gator, Phil Spector’s hair, The Chicago Cubs, and Abe Vigoda.

THIS JUST IN: Hero Parrot Saves Choking Girl!

Capt037773325de745d0b19e56f7b32ee_2According to Yahoo News, the parrot pictured at the left saved the ‘tocks of a choking girl by squawking: "Mama Baby! Mama Baby!" and flapping his wings until the babysitter returned to the room and gave the girl The Heimlich.

Awesome!

According to the report: "This undated image from video released by CBS4Denver, shows Willie, a Quaker parrot in Denver, Colo., whose cries of alarm alerted his owner when a little girl choked on her breakfast. Willie has been has been given the local Red Cross chapter’s Animal Lifesaver Award."

In his honor are a couple more cute parrot shots. Above, a McBeakersons named Ivan, and below, two puffballs.

Floppy manatee rescued!

According to newsite Sina:

"A Brazilian environmental police holds an Amazonian manatee calf after rescuing it from a resident who had purchased it from an animal trafficker in the Amazon city of Silves, Amazonas State, March 4, 2009. Manatees are a protected species in Brazil."

Meanwhile, over at Save the Manatee Club, also in Brazil a calf (perhaps the same one, we’re not sure) receives behbeh formula and takes a bref:

About as prosh as it GETS

Sender-Inner Katie T. writes:

"These pictures are of my adorable new rescue kitten. She doesn’t have a name yet, but I’m considering Charlotte and Eliza.

Anyway, yesterday afternoon I left her alone for the first time for about half an hour. When I came back, I found that she had tucked herself into my bed, right next to where my head belongs! I very nearly died."

This Is Spinal Wrap

According to The Sun, albino hedgie Jay Jay wasn’t safe in the wild, because his color made him an easy target for predators. So some nice people took him in, and now his future’s as bright as he is.

It's like, how much more white could this be?

And the answer is: None. None more white.

THIS JUST IN: Inseparable rehabbed sea lions

The Orange County Register is reportin’ that two inseparable sea lions were ruhleased to the open sea on Valentine’s day. See the full story here ;) .

LAGUNA BEACH – Two inseparable sea lions got their very own Valentine’s gift this morning – a return to the freedom of the open sea. Dozens of beachgoers watched as the Pacific Marine Mammal Center released Makia and Alto, two California sea lions who forged a tight bond during their month-long rehabilitation.

It tastes so good when it hits your lips!!!

Another pic from the insane Victoria fires over in Aussie-tralia. Don’t miss this koala we featured earlier, also from a similar scene.

Via DListed:

Look at the koala’s little tongue! And the koala’s paw on the fireman’s hand! The koala is so polite and so thankful! Like a little person! This makes me want to truckjack a Sparklett’s water truck and drive through the ocean to Australia.

I’m…. co-o-o-o-o-ld!

A reader writes: "I almost fainted when I saw this handful of preciousness.  He was dropped off in an empty box without food or water at the door of the rescue where I volunteer.  He was so cold when we brought him inside, he now just burrows into any warm thing he gets near.  Like armpits, cupped hands, jacket pockets, belly pouches…"

Is it me, or does this tree get taller every year?

"Leroy, that’s too much tinsel on the left side … Somebody help Maybelle, she’s tangled up in the lights again … No, Betty-Bob, we can’t decorate the backside of the tree this year, because we just don’t have the — ornaments."

I'm re-e-e-ally not looking forward to putting the angel on top.
