Murkin Is My New Hero

Just get your mind out of the gutter, ok?

I am talking about this awesome dog named Murkin and his amazing owner, dcjannelle. She adopted Murkin and he helps her foster kittens in need. Here’s a beautiful example of Murkin’s work:

Let’s Play: Name That Critter!

Need some help here, People! Megster thinks these guys are gerbils. I…dunno. I do know they are at this very minute trying to steal my soul with their totally adorabuhl little bods.  I mean, get real.  We’ve got snouts, we’ve got leetle teeny feet n’ tails, closed eye capsulz, The Works.  You see what we’re up against…this is serious stuff. So, let’s play Name That Critter!

THIS JUST IN: Kute Klinging Koala

This is the story of a koala so adorable, he could only be called Crescent Head Jimmy. Orphaned in 2009 and weighing less than two pounds, Jimmy was rescued by Koala Hospital Port Macquarie, who raised him and returned him to the wild. Years later, a collection of his photos became a Internet sensation.

When The Stork Gets The Wrong Address…

chaos can ensue. Like that time an elephant was delivered to a mouse – the baby was frightened of its mouse mom!

Fortunately for these rare Amur tiger cubs, Cleopatra, the Shar Pei mom, took them in like they were her own.

Cleo’s Shar Pei puppies are happy to have their new littermates, Clyopa and Plyusha.

The stork gets to keep his job (for now) and you can get the whole story and a peek at a few more photos of the blended family at SF Gate.

Caturday: We Are Not Worthy

What’s that Little One? Good news you say? Do tell.

You declare Caturday to be a day of rest. Oh you are too kind!

It will be an honor to rest on Caturday. We promise to do our best to follow your command!

Two week old Marbles  is Karen M.’s foster kitten through the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS).
Karen says, “Every time she looks at me with those big eyes I’m reminded why I volunteered to care for her.”

These Boots Were Made For Slothin’!

Many thanks to the work of Sloth Sanctuary and to Bradley Ireland Productions for the quality photo.

Can You Cheat At Pattycake?

The one on the right thinks so.

Suspicious squirrels have squinty eyes, Kim and Marcea!

Squirrel Tales – Truffle

Once upon a time, a baby squirrel fell from the nest and landed on the sidewalk. Now, this may have ended very badly if it were any other squirrel. But, the squirrel named Truffle was…let’s see, how to say this nicely…quite portly. It was this portliness that cushioned his fall.

The Cute Overload Fairy saw what had happened and brought Truffle to a nice Lady named Miriam. Miriam loved this baby and rather enjoyed how, um, chunky he was. She could not resist squishing Truffle’s chubby cheeks with her finger.

Miriam also delighted in keeping little-big Truffle warm and stylish.

The Cute Overload Fairy was very proud of Miriam for giving Truffle the job of comforting other orphans like Brownie and Cupcake. It made Truffle feel like he was part of a family again.

The Cute Overload Fairy wants to thank all of the people who foster and care for sick and orphaned animals, like Miriam S. SMOOCH!

In Case of Fire Use Stares

As if newborn wildlife didn’t have enough challenges, every spring brings new life and in some places it also brings wildfire season. Luckily, rescuers provided a safe haven for this rare pair!

We didn’t start the fire.

No we didn’t light it

But we tried to fight it.

We’re rekindling an old flame from the 2009 Jesusita fire near Santa Barbara, CA. The 3 week old bobcat kitten and 3 day old fawn were taken to a dispatch office by California animal rescuers who had nowhere else to keep them.

THIS JUST IN: Romulus and Remus Style Tiger Cub Cuteness!

Two rare Siberian tiger cubs nursed by a Shar-Pei! What’s next? Oh yeah don’t tell us, we know, they grow into noble leaders who go on to found the city of Rome, right?

Thank you, courageous Shar-Pei she-wolf. Someday we will name a great city after you.

MMMmmm tastee meelks. And great camouflage.

A random herdsman dude to raise us as his own. This is the stuff of great mythology!
