My God, It’s Full of Birdseed

One of the most enigmatic endings in film occurs in 2001: A Space Odyssey, in which Keir Dullea sees himself age and die, becoming at last the “starchild” that returns to Earth. An early draft of the script included an additional transformation into a “starbudgie” that nibbles on Australia, mistaking it for a giant cuttlefish.

Alicia E. writes: “Hi! I love this website, thanks for all the adorableness. Here is a picture of my budgie Tukey meeting my baby Sebastian when we first brought him home from the hospital.”

Is There a Point to This Post?

If you get lost while at the zoo,
The one thing you must never do
Is ask a monkey, word for word
” ‘Scuse me, can you point out the bird?”

Flickr user jinterwas notes: “Golden lion tamarin at Apenheul, Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, making a well known gesture with its middle finger.”

Nostrildamus

Beside bananas for lunch and turns on the tire swing, little Rollo Bumblemufkin’s favorite pastime was a little game he liked to call “Will This Fit Up My Nose?”

That’s snot funny, Barney M.

It’s About the Sleeping Arrangements…

I don’t want to seem like I’m complaining; this is the best dorm on campus, and I know that. But I was assured that I wouldn’t get a freshman this semester.

Andrea T. says: “I realize there’s no shortage of cute dog and baby pics, but here is mine. Pixie (on right, sitting), with Victor (in swing, blanketed). The two are actually well acquainted and on good terms, but it looks like a surprise first meeting. Pixie, in fact, is sitting for a treat and ignoring Vic.”

AND NOW I WILL STEECK MY TONGUE OUT FOR GOOD MEASURES

So what’s the story? Frisky Sender-Inner Amelia says that according to owner Jennifer H.; Nala, a black Capuchin monkey was born April 25th. While a sanctuary is built for her, she lives in Vegas with a caring family. Nala helps two autistic boys and so far things are going great. Nala was not purchased at a pet store but rescued from a Veterinarian. Extensive, special training is required to care for Nala. To learn more about Nala check out her website!  See more Nala insanity (in movie form) here.

The Whole Jungle is Like Spinning, Man

Shades of our breakdancing gorilla: This little orphan chimp at a rescue center in Cameroon loves to spin around until he’s so dizzy he bumps into the camera.

Make Fun of My Haircut, Will You?

Well then, prepare to suffer the bitter sting of my rapier wit!

Behbeh monkeys suck their thumbs too you know

…and, and they have stuffed animals too.

It’s perfectly natural. Stop looking at her like that.

The World We Share is reportin’ that a behbeh Mandril monkey was caught snorgling a stuffed animal and sucking her thumb at the Yageer Zoo in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province of China. Hoverfacts and more on this story over at What’s On Ningbo.

Kokamo ‘n’ Monroe

Kokamo, a gorilla at San Diego Zoo Safari Park, gave birth to a baby named Monroe this past June:

Sender-Inner George M. took these gorgeous photos when Monroe was just over a month old. Hoverfacts via TheWorldWeShare.

Raised By Ferrets

The little orphan child, who mysteriously appeared one day, was taken in by the local ferrets and raised as one of their own. They take baths together, followed by a bedtime story, then steal some jewelry, hide dirty socks and tunnel under the rug. Just like a real family.
