“You have to see this video ~ it must be shared with the Interworldz! Mama Mei’s hugeness next to her little one, and her gentleness, are nearly too much to bear (unintended yet appropriate pun🙂.” -Cuteporter Debra R.
Here’s the latest YT video from last week, or you can always dial up the Panda Cam.
Mama Panda Mei Xiang’s water broke at 3:36pm EST at the Smithsonian National Zoo and we are proud to announce she delivered at 5:32pm! We. Have. A. Cub! Proud Panda Dad Tian Tian was last seen giving out ceegars!
Visit the Smithsonian National Zoo Facebook page and share the joy.
OK, now don’t faint or anything, but we got VIDEO of the BIRTH-EO, riiiiight here:
A Super Shout Out and Grand Panda Thank You to superfast Cuteporter Nicole K. who says, “Will you please get a load of that cute little squirmy hairless panda?!? Mei Xiang is an excellent mom—she immediately picked up the cub and has been cradling it ever since.”, and our own Brinke! Photo: Astrid Riecken/The Washington Post
Zookeepers in Taipei introduce month-old bebeh panda Yuan Zai to its mom.
Photos from Taipei Zoo/HuffPost. Submitted by Anna C. and many a Cuteporter.
Cute Overload Peeps, please give a warm welcome to Newby Panda Tuan Tuan!
Get a LOAD OF THIS FUZZ!!! (Sorry- get excitable talkin’ about pandas.)
Tuan Tuan was born at the Taipei Zoo July 6th to nine-year-old Giant Panda Yuan Yuan.
Mail Online says “The panda was born at the Taipei Zoo after three years filled with seven failed pregnancies for the mother. Natural pregnancy among pandas is relatively rare.”
Visitors to the Taipei Zoo won’t get to see Tuan Tuan for another couple of months.
Mom Yuan Yuan was a gift to Taiwan from China.
Tuan Tuan’s weight has already doubled!
Tuan Tuan + Yuan Yuan together mean “reunion.”
Tuan Tuan gets to stay in Taiwan- usually any cubs born abroad from a Chinese-loaned Panda are returned to China.
There may be snorglin’ here or just a good ol’ fashioned wrassle. Then again, Junior may be gettin’ a bit of a whuppin’. Any way you look at it, Mama smooshes him pretty good at :01.

The Toronto Zoo is prepping for the arrival of two big ol’ ROLY POLYS, AKA five-year old giant pandas Er Shun and Da Mao. These two McBlorpsters are gonna fly the friendly skies on the FedEx Panda Express from Chengdu, China to a new home in the Great White North, arriving in late March/early April. They’ll stay in Toronto until 2018, when they’ll move to the Calgary Zoo. Have a safe trip, y’all!
