Good news to all Panda Fanz! China announced yesterday the birth of very rare Panda Triplets!

The three cubs were born July 29 in Guangzhou.

Mom Panda Ju Xiao and the three unnamed little dudes are healthy.

Quoting the AP report, “The triplets were only the fourth known to have been born in the world through artificial breeding programs…”

“..and there are about 1,600 giant pandas in the wild, where they are critically endangered due to loss of habitat and low birth rates.”

Papier-Mâché Pandas Arrive In HK

Remember last month, we told you about artist Paulo Grangeon and his display of 1,600 papier-mâché pandas– one for each that lives in the wild today. The exhibit arrived in Hong Kong earlier in the week, so check it out if that happens to be your corner of the world!

We’re not kidding, guys. NBC News says “China’s Giant Panda Protection and Research Center in Ya’an, Sichuan province just announced a competition for a one-year job as a “Panda Caretaker.” Eight runners-up win a three-day trip to panda-watch at the reserve. China Daily helpfully notes, “Your work has only one mission: spending 365 days with the pandas and sharing in their joys and sorrows.”

Sorrows? With a fleet of Pandas? Impossible.
