The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady Deer

July 19, 1906: “Third day of bright sunshine and fifth without rain. Miss Flowerdew gave me two Creeping Plume of the Meadow which she had gathered growing wild in Berwickleyshire. Their conspicuous blooms make fine patches of color among the green blades. Presently the air hangs quite heavy with their distinctive perfume.”  …drops pen and diary, keels over

Some Relationships Are Toxic

Sure, in the beginning it can seem fun. You find out all of the things you have in common – growing up in the same place, you both love swimming, stuff like that. You stay up all night having long philosophical talks about why the world is the way it is. You really enjoy hanging out together.

But then, the teeth come out and you realize there is no happy ending. Well, for one of you.

A reminder to pay attention to red flags, Jonathan!

Pupanzee

This is all the backstory we have on this one, courtesy Reddit user dmonnens: “After a mother chimpanzee who lived in a zoo died, one of the zoo’s employees took the baby chimp home to care for it. It never crossed his mind that his dog, who had recently given birth, would adopt the chimp and raise it with her pups.”

More cuteness here.

When The Stork Gets The Wrong Address…

chaos can ensue. Like that time an elephant was delivered to a mouse – the baby was frightened of its mouse mom!

Fortunately for these rare Amur tiger cubs, Cleopatra, the Shar Pei mom, took them in like they were her own.

Cleo’s Shar Pei puppies are happy to have their new littermates, Clyopa and Plyusha.

The stork gets to keep his job (for now) and you can get the whole story and a peek at a few more photos of the blended family at SF Gate.

From the IMAX film One World One Ocean comes this once-in-a-lifetime tender moment between Fido and Flipper (who then proceeds to fabulously flip out).
