Blockbuster Bunday Bonanza

‘Scuse me while I lay this five-part scrolldown on y’all, lapine style.  Can’t go wrong with the classics!

“C” is for Cookie
…and It’s good enough for “Desdemona”, a bunny and cookie thief. Photo by Kem Sypher, winner of the 2004 Oregon Humane Society’s photo contest. Submitted by Bens, who wishes us all a Merry Pigmas.

You heard me, Kuki.

Quick! Let’s scurry!
OK, first of all, this is one awesome photograph, Emily M. It’s really beautiful—kinda along the lines of Died and Gone to Heaven. Can’t you imagine that you’re in this field, and this teeeeny bunny comes up to you, and she’s all; “Come with me! I’ll show you the secret bunny burrow—we’ll be safe there! But we must hurry!”

How Can I Keep From Singing?

I apologize in advance to all you well-rounded music aficionados out there for my dissonant genre-mashing; my own tastes are… eclectic.  But it’s Saturday, it’s gorgeous, and darned if I don’t feel like a little Pawl, Yawn, Jawrge and Ringtail this morning.  ♫ Here comes the sun, doodle-oo-doo… wait, no, Meg’s got a better idea:

We can work it out
We can make this whole damn thing work out
With a little nom, we can lay it down
Can’t you feel this website exploding?

[Sing in Sir Paul McCartney voice]

Sender-Inner Lori W. FOUND ANOTHER ONE!

Friday Night Happy Hour

sardiniCome on in, it’s two-for-one ’til closing time!  We’re mixing up a few CO classics, nice and casual.  Really.  Cheers!

6 parts gin
2 parts vodka
1 part Lillet blanc
Lemon twist Kitty head

Combine liquid ingredients in a cocktail shaker with cracked ice and shake well. Strain into a chillin’ martini glass and garnish with lemon twist kitty head.

catini_560

We maded you a martini, Sandy B., but we drinked it.
(Recipe based on the classic James Bond martini. More recipes here.)

Sender-inner Jessica L. writes: “Okay, here’s a strange one for you. But every time I look at these pictures I think how cute it is, so I thought I’d send it on in. It is a turkey made out of a pine cone who has clearly befriended a sprouted onion. Seriously, check it out. Or maybe I’m just strange.”

[shifty eyes] Thanks… [looks over shoulder]

Oh hey, I found the onions.

Yeah, it’s strange. But in a good butter duck or tree sweater way.

Behold a gaggle of color-coded Peeps riding multi-colored horses.

Even stranger is the text accompanying the submission: “These little guys deserve fun too.”

Um. OK. [shifty eyes in disbelief]

apeepalypse_now

Katy M., unique. Very unique.

Some of you are already saying “NOOOOOOOO”

Peeps, you got your comment controversies, y’know, sometimes it seems like every other post. Then there’s your capital-C Commentroversy, at which point you’ve pretty much seen it all.

THEN, along comes Buddy. And this hepcat was never emo.

Hefty kitteh “Buddy” is a [ahem] a couch straddler and paw dangler.
The internet is just weird. Fact of life.
The sender-inner’s sister was kind enough to have a local artist CAPTURE the REDONKULOUSNESS by making a miniature version of “Buddy” too. Hee!

Birthday_statue_2Birthday_statue2_2

Oooooof!
You might think folks would have better things to do. I might agree.
Fatcat_3
Kate V., somehow I suspect you’re not the ONLY ONE with a couchstraddlerpawdangler. Nice work.

Harrumph Day

Caturday? HAH!! Saturday is the new Wednesday!  It’s like “Hump Day”, only different.  Remember, you heard it here first on Cute Overload — the internet’s premier cutting-edge authority on what day it isn’t.  And it certainly isn’t September 18, 2008.

In the remote plains of Wazoolooland, we come upon an all-too-familiar scene: A fierce camel locked in mortal combat with the small but wily plastic bucket.

Ah, we meet again, my old nemesis ...

Saracen pig! Roman cow! Take THIS! And THIS!

For the bucket, its only chance is to raise its defenses and hope his adversary tires …

... there's the kick, aaaannnd -- GOOOOOOAAAL!!!

Yeah, I'd like to see that lame-o walrus pull this off.

Alas, even the bucket’s tough protective shell is no match for the camel’s ruthless onslaught …

No, we're not making a new "nomming" tag. Please stop asking.

… and with one final bite, the struggle is over.

FOR GREAT JUSTICE!! ***CHOMP***

Victorious, the mighty camel cries out his call of triumph.

THIS ... IS ... SPARTAAAAAAA!
We’ll be back with more of “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom” after these messages.

They sell bucket insurance, by the way. I'm just saying.

Yes, sir, Gelosia … that’s your “Baby.” ( More photos here )

The Mother of All Encores

This may not have been our first-ever Interspecies Snorgling post, but it’s definitely a CO Classic: Holy inter-species bonding!”
(Also, have you called your mother yet?  You know, she’s done a lot for you.) ;)

Here’s the deal. “Finnegan” the squirrel was found under a tree in Renton WA. Finnegan was brought to the home of Debby “Sure I’ll take care of him!” Cantlon for care. Meanwhile, Debby’s papillion pup “Mademoiselle Giselle” (I am not making this up) decides she can help out too, and brings Finnegan in with her new puppies. Finnegan proves to be one sweet squirrel, riding mosh pits of puppies and cuddling with his littermates.

Orange Marmasplosion

Peeps, if I’m doin’ the posts today, I’m postin’ some tabby tigers. Noooo apologies. You did know there’s a whole Flickr group full of these fine felines, right?

Rule of Cuteness #4: more than one species of baby flopping around is cute

The color coordination is irresistible, and the low-down camera angle just accentuates the fact they are not much larger than the blades of grass they sit on. *But* I give them an 8.5—no paws are up, and there is the BEF on the bunny (Beady Eye Factor)

Encore: Nice Antennae, Baby.

Spring is here, and our lawn’s got the dandelions to prove it.  Yaaay.
Never mind that, though; this CO Classic is prettier.

FLASHBACK: Our First-Ever ResQte™

Happy Spring Saturday, Peeps! Who’s up for a few Lil’ Floating Snacks? er… ‘quacks’?

Maggie from Australia writes: “They are Pacific Black ducklings, native to Australia, who we rescued after they fell into the man-made water feature outside our home and couldn’t get out again [they were only a few days old and were a long way from flying]…”

duckies4_1

“This picture was taken one night when we’d returned the ducklings to their temporary sanctuary in our guest bathroom. Lucy, our 3 year old beagle, was fascinated by them and whimpered for hours after they were taken away – she missed her little mates.”

eins, zwei, drei, wet

The baby ducks should be releases to the wild later this month… Thanks, Maggie.

Backstreet Boid

From the cutting edges of Science comes a report via the Daily Mail, of a Harvard psychology student who studied hours of YouTube videos to uncover the startling true fact that cockatoos, like humans, have rhythm terrible taste in music.
