It May Be Winter But Get Ready To Melt

Hollywood Hounds is not only a pet boutique and spa; they have been doing pet adoptions and rescues since 2007. Three months ago they took in an abandoned pair like no other whose forever home is now none other than Hollywood Hounds. Jacqueline Borum is captivating and inspiring as she tells the story.
Fave Quotes:

“They were found together. They are pretty much inseparable. The Dachshund absolutely loves this kitten, which has some health issues obviously.”

“We’ve had bonds between animals. I don’t know we’ve ever seen anything like this. It’s pretty special.”

“Every time Idgie goes out she gets a smooch. Someone’s constantly babying Ruth.”

“They pretty much share everything.”

“We’re making up for lost time for anything that they may have lacked.” “Now they’ve got about 14 Mommies here.”

Thanks to all the peeps who sent this in! Including, “I dare you to watch these two and not get teary.” -Phred’s Mom. And, “I’m sure you’ve gotten this one a bunch by now. . . but just in case. OMG THOSE LEGS!” -Nick D. More on this story from Huffington Post.

The Three Little Pigs of Chiang Mai, Thailand

Oink if you love happy, fairy tale endings.

Mindy P., from Save Elephant Foundation, wrote to tell us, “Just before Christmas, a mother pig went into labor and sadly passed away with a number of stillborn piglets. The foundation I work with rescued the only survivors… three little pigs.”

“Biddy was our beloved Djungarian. Sadly, he developed an untreatable infection and had to be put down today. We snapped this pic on an iPad mini when Biddy was just a pup and feel it’s a fitting tribute to our little buddy!  We love you, Biddy!” – Chloe D.

We Could Be Heroes

Some sad numbers to ponder: today, on average, one in four doggehs die of cancer. For kittehs, it’s one in eight. These numbers are unacceptable. Looks like Canada has taken the initiative here- watch the video and then click here to learn how you can help! (PS- wait ’til the very end to see who the producer of the video is!)

THIS JUST IN: Finland Owl Rescue ACTION!

This just in from Cuteporters of the North, O & J at our northernmost Cute Outpost Bunker in Helsinki. (Scurries to Google Maps.)

Here’s a link to a Finnish news story about a northern hawk-owl (Hiiripöllö) that was found swimming in Lake Tuusula. (Another link here.)

“It had apparently fallen in by accident, but luckily a man in a kayak happened by and picked it up!”

pollo3
“The poor bird tried to make its way inside the man’s life jacket for some warmth. It was then taken to shore at a nearby museum, and a museum guide took it home to dry overnight. The next morning all was well and the owl was released back into the wild!”

“PS- More bunlets, please.” Also from Liisa Å. and Tiina M. Photos and big-time resqte ACTION by Pentti Taskinen.

Poll: Tribble, Or Bun?

Not quite sure what to make of this, People. Is this a Tribble straight off the Starship Enterprise, or the Biggest Bunneh In The World? I know Bunday is still two days off–this couldn’t wait. Poll away.
