If A Deer Plays In The Woods…

“….and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?” Not in this video! (No sound.) And is this a Deer, or an Elk mebbe?

  1. “Splish splash, I was takin’ a bath…” Love how s/he stops every so often looking all majestic in case someone’s watching.

  2. It’s an elk. Elk have the white patch on the rump and short tails. Interesting behavior in any case.

  3. That was fantastic.

  4. I think it is an Elk.

  5. Gene Elkey rehearses his “Singin’ in the Rain” routine.

  6. Voting for elk. No flippy white tail.

  7. cat slave says:

    Elk. Look at that rump.

  8. I always think of wild animals as just desperately trying to survive. It’s cool to see that they like to play, too!

  9. grytlappar says:

  10. fascinating. tryna figure out whats going on here. deer wants something to go away very badly but at the same time is also desperately looking for something. kinda like life.

  11. Elk zoomies.

  12. Good one, Annette.

  13. Yes, obviously an elk. Probably a juvenile. Elk are substantial. Deer are comparatively delicate. An elk weighs four or five times the weight of a deer.

  14. Definitely and elk. I have them wander through my yard periodically here in Montana. And the puddle is called a wallow. The adults would usually just lay down in it and cool off in the summer. As Ajax says, this one appears to be a calf.

  15. Just like a human kid…. can’t resist splashing around in a puddle!

  16. Elk. They’re usually so serious; this was fun to watch.

  17. Elk in bogs.

  18. if that’s a deer, he’s been working out and hitting GNC for muscle powder.

  19. Jumping for joy!

  20. The video is missing now, but I think this is it. It is certainly an Elk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWfvv2Blk48
