Pandas Just Wanna Have Fu-un

Little Man Blorp here just wants to have fun. Anywhere and everywhere he can possibly have it.

  1. OK, I want to play with the panda, but honestly, why are those people in weird costumes harassing him/her? If it’s unsafe for him/her to be leaning on the wall or going into the moat, there are clearly better ways to deal with it (i.e., put him/her in a safe environment!!!).

  2. it’s like this adorable panda really wants to play like a kid.. 🙂

  3. Sharon Wilson says:

It must be a full-time job looking after that panda!

  4. I want that job and that HAT.

@Andy, I shared your concerns about safety–grabbing a panda’s leg seems like a bad idea for both parties.

  5. Maybe they were teaching Panda Boy the consequences of falling in the moat and how to handle it? (Although I agree they shouldn’t grab his leg and dangle all his weight on it.) These look like young pandas to me, maybe when they are bigger they will have the muscle to get up and over the moat’s wall. Certainly the panda blorpitude is way cute!!

  6. His ears bounce when he trots around. I just can’t handle it.

  7. grytlappar says:

I don’t like a lot of the zoo videos from Japan… (Red pandas come to mind). The keepers put on a show for the visitors, and the animals… are just there for the ride—even though it’s in their enclosure/home, and whether they want to or not. What, the zoo animals have to dance for their dinner? Jump? It’s distasteful.

  8. grytlappar says:

The fact that those ‘keepers’ are wearing those outfits… Not exactly zoologists/scientists, are they? I’m sorry, but I have a problem with this, it’s robbing the zoo animals of some of theire dignity.

  9. Looks to me like panda and keeper have been through the same routine many a time before! Very cute.

  10. Alice Shortcake says:

The animals are being made to perform. Not cute at all.

  11. I agree that the treatment of these pandas is just wrong. There was a video a few months ago where, again, the pandas were being manhandled. Why do these sort of videos keep getting posted on this site? I would like to know where this was filmed and complain to whoever is running this zoo.

  12. The pandas look pretty healthy and happy to me. And the way moat-panda repeatedly stretches up to reach fo his slightly weird human friend makes me think they’ve played this game before, only about a million times. Life in a zoo could be pretty boring without silly humans in panda hats who risk their own limbs and safety to rescue their panda buddies from mischief.
