National Cat Day: Kittehs On Demand!

Uber’s going to be plenty busy this morning. (The above photo via Twitter was taken in Connecticut.) Open up the Uber app on your smartphone and you can get a kitteh delivered to your office (between the hours of 11 and 3 local time.) Once the kittens arrive, you and your friends will get to enjoy 15 minutes of kitten cuteness! The best part? In most of the 50 cities taking part, kittens are eligible for adoption. It’s just a $30 “snuggle fee” for the best 15 minutes of your day and they will turn around and support the participating shelters!

Here’s a list of the participating shelters/cities! Do you have kittens in the office? Let us know!

  1. I have a cold today, so a sweet little kitty delivery would really brighten up my work day.

  2. When I heard about this on the radio this morning, I thought it was a terrible idea. I had visions of kitties being mishandled and otherwise abused – but now I’m starting to think it’s actually a very creative way to find homes for needy kitties. Sounds good to me! 🙂

Does someone go with them? Besides the driver I mean.

That kitten is so excellent…. And now I just noticed he/she’s a MAJOR polydactyl— 6 toes on the hind feets (2 extra), and at least that many extra on the front feets. Look at those paddles!

  4. OMG, the soft, fuzzy adorableness of those little whiskery faces!! The calico bebeh, the beautiful grey tiger… WANT!
For the rest of the day, I would have a very hard time trying to concentrate on my job.

  5. What a great thing to promote adoption and generate money for shelters. ❤
I covet he kitteh leggings one of the ladies in he fist photo is wearing.

@Clairedelune, I agree. It would indeed be hard o concentrate on work and not dream of kittayns. 🙂

  6. Sooooo many little toes on that fella below the Phillymag video! I love all the toes!

The CO could start doing a daily version of this, called Rent-A-Snorgle. Just a thought….

  8. My only misgiving (or maybe it’s a misunderstanding) is, what if people from different offices want to adopt the same kitten at the end of the day? Do they take each kitten to only one office? No, or else they could be adopted on the spot, rather than waiting until 4 pm. If a kitten visits more than one office and, at 4 pm, has more than one request, who gets dibs? Seems like it could cause bad feelings and create bad PR.

Caroline M – I couldn’t agree more. Who knows, it could be a franchise – ‘Squeals on Wheels’!
