#Tocktober: ‘Tock Flock

Oh, Deer! This month’s meeting of Bambi Local #100 will now come to order! “One of the many beautiful discoveries on a recent trip to Wales: the heart-shaped ‘Tocks of Fallow Deer, on the grounds of Dinefwr (dee-nuh-ver) Castle. Enjoy!” -Jennifer M.

  1. They all know exactly where we’re all looking. Lol.

  2. Lovely!

  3. petless in Puddletown says:

Thanks for the Welsh phonetics! Very helpful for those of us who were wondering!

  4. Blue Footed Booby says:

Huh, I thought w in Welsh was always pronounced like the “oo” in “moon.” That’s how it is in “cwm” at least, which is one of my favorite words, right after “snorkle” and “humuhumunukunukuapua’a.”

  5. The dark gray one – does anyone know if it’s a different age/gender/breed from the rest? Or are color variations normal?

  6. Blue Footed Booby says:

I think he’s just melanistic. It’s a mutation, like with black jaguars (aka panthers). It happens sometimes with whitetail deer too.
