The Koalas Need YOUR Help!

Fires in Victoria and South Australia have left some Koalas with burned paws! International Fund for Animal Welfare/Australia (IFAW) has launched an appeal for mittens to be made for the furballs, some of which have burned paws due to the fires. :(. The mittens need to be 4.9″ wide, and 5.9″ tall.

Send to: IFAW, 6 Belmore Street–Surry Hills–Sydney NSW 2010. Phone: +61 2 9288 4900, and 1 800 00 IFAW. Questions? Send ’em an email!

  1. Oh those poor little cuties. I hope their paws heal fully and they enjoy their mittens.

  2. I was going to send this in and preemptively demand a KNITTED. Reminds me of those little penguins in sweaters

  3. Kaboom! I esplode from teh Cute.

  4. please click on the picture of the mitten to make the page bigger ande the pattern instructions only are on at 8×11 (approx.) or the mittens will be too small. I figured this out when I printed it out and saw the mittens seemed a bit small. I also verified on another web page that the mitten instructions are to be printed on the 8×11(approx) for correct size.

This is heartbreaking. I ‘m going to look for my cotton fabric right now.

  6. Sooo – how big are the mittens supposed to be? I too printed out the instructions and noticed the measurements don’t match. Height 150mm, width 125mm like the pattern says? I’m confused but I wanna start making some mittens!

  7. @hermanni; I converted the metrics (weren’t we all supposed to be on metrics by now?): The mittens need to be 4.9″ (or 125mm) wide, and 5.9″ tall (150mm)

  8. My sister and I made a couple of pairs today! Going to send them to the sweeties next week!

  9. Woo Hoo…C.O. doing it’s part to make a better wold/life for animals of all kinds. BRAVO!
