The Fast ‘n’ The Furry-ous 11: Rolling Thunder

Thunder LOVES to chase his hoomin’s RC car. So of course, they stuck a GoPro™ camera on it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an English bulldog move that fast!

  2. I kind of feel for the little guy. His heartbeat must be racing too

  3. I don’t mean to criticize, but how is that not dangerous for the dog? How is the owner certain there’ll be no traffic? There are certainly plenty of parked cars. Is it a “no driving allowed” day? Also I kind of wish the pup wasn’t doing all that running on asphalt. However, quibbles aside, it’s a good way to video a running dog! And he certainly was persistent.

  4. I agree with Michael and Iris W. I worry about traffic as well as the dog becoming overheated. Those concerns actually kept me from enjoying the vid. 😦

  5. This is NOT cute. It’s DANGEROUS. Please remove this post before another moron thinks this is cute and does the same thing.

  6. Not a healthy behavior to let an animal chase after cars. If it gets hit, the owner can only blame themselves. Think how the poor driver would feel or maybe have an accident to avoid the dog, cat, etc.

  7. And here I was thinking what a fantastic way to exercise a dog! I think that in such a suburban neighborhood, the owner is likely keeping an eye out for traffic as well as keeping an eye on his dog’s breathing. The dog appears to be in good health and looks happy…sometimes it really IS ok to let it go, folks! Enjoy an obviously happy puppy on a run!

  8. I’m only surprised an English Bulldog can run for over 10 seconds… I was wondering whether this is a purebred, or perhaps an Old English Bulldog? Anyway, to the nuffers: I trust they had people watching out for traffic. Also they knew the dog loves to chase the RC-car (which, by the way, is not a real car and does not mean the dog would chase real cars too), so they know he can run without dropping dead due to overheating, breathing problems or such.

Doomshild — I think this is what is now known as an Olde English Bulldogge as the true Old English Bulldog is apparently extinct. It could also be an American Bulldog. Both are taller and, while stocky, less heavy than what most people think of when they think of Bulldogs. According to the breed standards they are supposed to be agile enough to perform a variety of activities — which should help settle the nuffers. Another thing to help settle the nuffers is that if you watch the video closely you can see that the hoomin is actually driving the RC car in circles and is not getting very far from the driveway — and that the hoomin is standing in the driveway and running the RC car by sight. So I’m sure he’s watching out for cars.

D’oh. I’m in the mod lounge! Is there anything to eat in here? I don’t think it’s been stocked in a while…
