Tiny Blob Monsters In Elizabeth’s Backyard!!!!

Elizabeth M-G’s already come face to, er, face with these mysterious visitors from far, far, away. “I was moving some plants around on my porch yesterday when I noticed these weird blobby things on a small leaf. Cute tiny blob monsters?? After a little online searching, these “creatures” turned out to be the eggs of a Leaf-footed Bug, probably the species [Say like Cliff Clavin: Ed.] Acanthocephala Terminalis, which I see around my Connecticut yard pretty frequently. Weird and cute!”

“The second photo shows the eggs from a different angle, where you can actually just make out the baby bugs folded up inside. Again… weird, and cute?? I think so…maybe.”

  1. Saffron says:

I think they are blobbular and cute. It’s when they are in the bug format that I get a little freaked out.

  2. SlaveToCat says:

I think those are pina colada jelly beans.

  3. sabrina rose says:

I love this kind of photo! It reminds me of science class in elementary school, when kids learn to observe, not just glance carelessly, because so many things are not what they seem. There’s so much to discover in the natural world. Imagine a bug that lays eggs with little faces! How cute is that?

  4. Smartypants says:

This is great! We have them around here (Massachusetts) – the adults have very pretty, understated markings. I’ve never seen them in egg form.

  5. Most bugs are icky but these eggs are redonk!

  6. can I pinch it??… too cute 🙂 thank you for sharing
