CAUGHT ON FILM™: Ultimate Mama Bear ResQte!

People, U just won’t believe this one. Mama Bear discovered her son was playing on a road through Kootenay National Park, which is located in southeastern British Columbia in Canada. Needless to say, she put a stop to that immediately.

U can bet someone is going to get a talking-to. Or a growling-to. (And here’s Stunbunny’s “Bongo Feet,” by request.)

  1. kiragirl says:

    matchinks (twins) hehe

  2. I wonder if the cub’s skin on the top of its head is stretched out now–yee ouch! Still, having Mom pick you up by the top of your head must be better than getting run down by a car. Love the brother or sister bear peeking over the side, too.

  3. Hah, she grabbed him first spot she could get a hold of. Man, wonder if he got a goose egg to remember that escapade by…

  4. I love that she looks both ways before reaching over.

  5. stunbunny says:

I think the word everybody is searching for is, “YOINK!” Followed by bongo feet.

  6. @Stunbunny: UPDATED with Bongo Feet. Seriously.

  7. stunbunny says:

Thanks Brinke! Exit stage left, pic-a-nic baskets, and what-not.

  8. BONGO FEET!!!!!!! And don’t miss 2nd cup looking on…and judging.

  9. Aww, and the little welp the cub made while he was being hoisted by mama — too cute!!

  10. I saw this on the news tonight! 😀

  11. anonymous coward says:

the only thing i can think of is:
    ow, ow, ow, maaaaa!

    i do share berg’s concern. i hope the cub’s
    scalp is ok…

  12. One of the other clips that shows up at the end features another mama bear rescuing her youngster … in this clip it is clearer that she actually grabs the cub high on the nape of the neck, but when the cub is in the air it looks like she’s got the top of his head, just like this clip. Guess the nape-skin is EXTRA-stretchy, just for this purpose!

  13. Baby Bears are a whole lot tougher than you think

  14. When I come back in my next life I’m gonna BE a Mama Bear
you get to swatting your kids and no one from Chilcare bothers
You can swat mean people who hurt your Kids too
it is expected of you – Kids are such a trial

  15. This was on every news channel in Australia tonight too! So cute – and I bet his brother or sister dobbed him in to mum in the first place

  16. Vanessa says:

Love the sibling peering over the side probably taunting “oooo you’re gonna get it!”

  17. LunaChickFringe says:

Let’s hope the leetle one inherited mama’s smarts!

  18. A friend saw a similar scene in Northern Pennsylvania. The cub had wandered into the middle of the road (fortunately almost no traffic), and when the mama bear came to get him, she first gave him a whack upside the head before carrying him back into the woods.
