Welcome 2 The World, Sydney The Wombat

Syd’s official designation is a “Southern Hairy-Nosed Wombat.”

She lives at the Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia.

Sydney is eight months old, and is just now poking her considerable schnozz outside to see wassup.

That’s mom Korra at right.

Sydney shown here achieving decent ground clearance!

  1. My dad used to call me and my sister ‘Wombat’ as a petname. In fact, still does. (I am 35, BTW.) Sadly, we were never as adorable as Sydney.

  2. Sedro6 says:

    Where is the hairy nose???

  3. dgerish says:

Must get a wombat. In the second Phryne Fisher mystery novel, Flying Too High, a wombat plays a wonderful part. If you’ve enjoyed Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, you’ll like the novels too.

  4. it looks like totoro

  5. JenDeyan says:

It hardly seems possible but the babeh wombat is even cuter next to its momma.

  6. Emmberrann says:

I lerves me some wombatses! Syd is Aderables.

  7. joydox says:

I’m happy the wombats are loved.

  8. The stubby bow-leggedness of both mamma and baby is impossible to resist. I need to snorgle them now.

  9. doomchild says:

I have a fever… and the only cure is more wombat.

  10. Wombats are the BEST thing to trip over when on a school camp. Makes me proud to be an Aussie!

  11. jlamusings says:

Adorbs! So pudgey & stumpy…Aussies, I am jealous that I didn’t get to trip over anything that cute at summer camp.

  12. I can’t tell who’s cuter. Bebeh wombat or super pudgy mama wombat.
