Hibernators Everywhere are So Jealous Right Now

All those frozen days melt away when you see the face of Princess Puffy.

“Spring is here, finally! Princess Puffy, the baby box turtle, emerged from her hibernation today and woke up HONGRY! Here she is nomming on egg white and salad. It’s her first meal in 5 1/2 months. I sure did miss my little Princess.” -Linda

Wait a sec, Princess, ya got a little somethin’ there.

  2. sabrina rose says:

What a very nice turtle! Does she hibernate inside or outdoors? I like her little nose, don’t think I’ve ever seen a closeup of one. I’ve read of people keeping a turtle in their gardens (maybe for pest control?) and they know spring has arrived when their turtle emerges from hibernation. Sure is a long time to wait for breakfast!

  3. Turtles hibernate? We’ve got loads of turts where I am (Cayman Islands), but I never knew that before. Must be the fact that it’s so darn warm around here all the time.

  4. She shouldn’t be eating onion!!!

  5. nuri148, I think that’s just the egg white.

  6. Dog Lover says:

@JacklynM, that may be egg white but what about the purpley stuff on the plate? Cabbage or onion?

What if all our pets hibernated for 5 1/2 months???? I would not be able to handle that. 🙂

  7. Emmberrann says:

That’s def cabbage. Onions are shinier and don’t have as much curlitude.
I don’t think I would be able to not have my bff around for nearly half a year. I need my cuddles and hugs! All the more power to those who can do that; we need box turtles in the world.

  8. Linda O. says:

Hi all Puffy fans! Thank you for your adoration. Puffy’s salad is composed of red cabbage, green romaine lettuce, carrots, arrrruuuugula sometimes and other raw veggies. I don’t give her onions or hot peppers or pickled, salty things but she loves fruits and worms and live bugs.

This winter was her first hibernation and I put her in a box of deep mulch with a bowl of fresh water in the garage. I am a fretful turtle mom so I dug her up a few times and held her until she moved then buried her again. I’m so glad she’s awake now! She’ll live to be about 40 years old so I’ll have plenty of time with her when she’s not hibernating in the Princess Puffy Winter Palace.

Love from me and HRH Princess Puffy!!
