Cute Overload :D
Well, WELL! Look who just arrived at the San Diego Zoo. Contrary to the color of the cap shown, this is a girl!
wow what an ugly baby, lol (something I remember my mother saying when she would see a baby monkey ro gorilla.
I don’t think I knew that gorillas were born nekkid! She’s not so pretty yet but she will be, as all gorillas are. I’d give anything just to hold her for a moment or two.
I’m in love!
I think she looks a little like Yoda, minus the green color and pointy ears.
Girls can wear blue and boys can wear pink. It is 2014!
She looks like a little old man, kind of the reverse of Keir Dullea at the end of “2001,”
Great 60s sci-fi reference.
My God, it’s full of qte.
RE: Dog Lover: All primates, in the womb, are COVERED in hair. It just falls off and is ingested in-uteri. Human baby’s first poop is FULL of that hair, and it’s own poop and so on. BLARG! Interestingly, the hair does all grow back because we don’t loose the hair follicles. You and I, all of us primates, still have those hairs covering us all over, they’re just INCREDIBLY tiny.
The LA news had an interview last night with the neonatoligist the zoo brought in from the UC San Diego hospital. She said she had no experience with anything other than human babies, but that she wasn’t finding caring for the gorilla baby much different, that she was just doing what she’d do for any baby with the same issues. She sounded very affectionate toward the little gorilla girl.
To jnyjny – Ugh!!! My son is 47 and I’ve lived all my life without knowing about the in-utero hair thing. BLARG is right! Icky icky icky!!! Thank God I gave birth at a time when postpartum moms got to stay in the hospital for a week being waited on hand and foot, and the very sweet nurses did night feedings and diaper changing.
Right, because the color of a baby’s clothing determines its gender. Seriously, CO?
Pray for the little sweetie!
