Flashback Friday

The National Adopt-a-Rescued-Guinea-Pig-Month of March continues with a submishe from sender-inner, Mara V., and her guinea pig, Sanne. Mara, has anyone ever said you like someone famous? Oh and, matchingks! (singsong).

“This is me, age 5, with my Guinea Pig, Sanne. I got her for Christmas and a few days later I woke up to a little baby guinea pig sitting next to her. She was pregnant and we never knew! It was the best surprise ever.” -Mara V.

Two cuties. You were a bright, lovely child. And what a nice story. You got two for the price of one. The little baby must have been super cute!

  2. Awwwww, the two little cuties in the pic made my day. 🙂 As did the thought of waking up and seeing a wee baby guinea pig!

  3. How adorable! And I can’t even imagine how cute a baby guinea pig would be! 🙂

  4. Dog Lover says:

I immediately thought of the Eight is Enough kid too, because of the hair. But this little girl looks much sweeter and more adorable. I’d love to see a picture of the bebbeh piggie! 🙂

  5. omg…the Adam Rich haircut….AND a ginny peeg? So awesome!

  6. Oh, yes! Little Nicholas, I believe! From Eight Is enough. Yep, I watched that show, too! And, yeah,–when it first came out, I’m not ashamed to say!

My niece’s first guinea pig was pregnant with when acquired, and the babies duly appeared without fanfare when everyone was out. My sister got home first and was speechless with astonishment, thinking blearily that somehow two baby squirrels had broken into her apartment and closed all apertures, then repeated the feat with the cage. She didn’t tell anyone else, letting her daughter find the two bonus guinea pigs on her own. My niece sent out birth announcements proclaiming TMINS! She was still very young and put the W upside-down. To this day, we call twins tmins.

  8. omg Mara V. the exact same thing happened to me and my sister! it was maybe a week after we got Sugar and we came downstairs and found a baby mini-me in the cage with her (who would soon be named Spicy). i don’t think there’s anything in the world that could have made us happier, except maybe tmins 🙂

Ah, yes, the lovely guinea pig surprise. We got two and ended up with six. Luckily found good homes for all the itty bitty ones.

  10. My brother got a “male” hedgehog a month or two ago. Two days later it gave birth to a pair of hoglets.
