    For me, the name Humphrey will always remind me of the “campus puppeh” at my college, who was a Bassett hound who mooched off all the dining halls and was beloved by the students. I have no idea if he was actually an opportunistic stray or actually belonged to someone, but he certainly was well fed. 🙂 So Humphrey the polar bear has a distinguished name that was beloved by many years of students at one fine institution of higher learning back in the ’70s!
