THIS JUST IN: RIP 2 Buckwheat The Derpy Bun

From Cuteporter Wendy Z: “I just received word that Buckwheat, who was featured on C.O. as ‘Derpy Bun’, has left us. Here’s the message from Elise, his hoomin:”

Sunday, Buckwheat the super bunny left this life and moved on to the next. I like to think that he’s at the Rainbow Bridge charming some girl buns with his adorable, tilty head, eating endless bowls of pellets, with a dedicated group of admirers who shower him with the love and affection that he deserves. Buckwheat is the happiest, most inspiring being I’ve ever met and I am so lucky to have had so much time with him. Rest in peace, my sweet bunny.”

  1. I’m so sorry for your loss. R.I.P. Buckwheat!

  2. So sad! RIP Buckwheat!

  3. Wendy, I’m so sorry for your loss. I know you’ll miss your little guy but you can take solace in the fact that he knew he was loved and cherished. Sounds like he didn’t suffer before his passing and that’s a real blessing too. *hugs*

    RIP, sweet bun.

  4. So sorry for you loss. He was a beautiful little bun, and you can tell from his photo that he was so loved and well-cared for. ((Hug))

  5. Rest in peace, Buckwheat, and cyber-hugs to Elise. ❤

  6. Elise, I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m sure Buckwheat is telling everyone at the Rainbow Bridge what a great life he had with you.

  7. Elise, so sorry for your loss. It’s so hard to say goodbye to our beloved fur babies. Buckwheat was a gorgeous and inspirational bunny, and may he forever rest in peace. You gave him a great life, love, and medical care. Know you made a huge difference for this sweetie.

  8. So very sorry. Sincere condolences. Just seeing that lovely little bunny makes me smile!

  9. Many prayers of comfort going out to Elise. *hugs*

Buckwheat was the cutest bun and we are all lucky to have seen him on CO and marveled at his awesomeness.

  10. Sorry, this message was intended for Elise, Buckwheat’s hoomin.

  11. Sorry to hear of Buckwheat’s passing. The pain you feel now is proof of the happiness he brought to you.

  12. Many hugs for you Elise – my daughter’s gwarf rabbit BugsBunny passes away 2 years ago. He suffered from Tortecollis as well, but he was a trooper and lived many happy long years. Bunnies are the best!
Hugs and tissues for all who have lost beloved pets…..

  13. So sorry for your loss, Elise. Buckwheat was so lovably adorable.

  14. Thank you everyone – I passed on this link to Elise. She lost a beloved pinnygig earlier this week, so she is having a rough time.

Buckwheat was proof that bunnies and other critters don’t waste time worrying about what they lost – they just get on with things. He took his meds, and adjusted to viewing the world at a wonky angle. We humans could learn a lot from them.

  15. Thank you all. My heart is completely shattered right now, but I’m so happy that Buckwheat’s adorable, happy, tilty head has been able to bring smiles and laughter to so many people that have never met him. He was really a one-of-a-kind little dude and will always inspire me to be me, fight the good fight, and live for what really matters ❤

  16. What an adorable bunny! So sorry to hear that he has passed. I hope he continues to look down at us with the utmost disapproval with his cute little tilty head.

  17. I’m so sorry for your loss. I recently lost my kitty of 15 years, he passed on new years eve, so I know exactly how you’re feeling right now. Take the time to grieve, but always remember his good stories. My kitty had an incurable medical issue as well, but he still lived a full, long life, as your sweet Buckwheat did. I’m sure if you need anything in the coming weeks, the internets will be happy to oblige.
