Just Another Quokka Monday, Whoa-Oh

We thought you would like to start the week totally discombobulated. Once you see these…..you will be.

We’ve featured Quokkas a time or two. Quokkas are a small marsupial native to a small corner of southwestern Australia. Submitter Nancy K. says “Ooohhh, so cute it will burn your eyes out.”

Southwestern Australia, eh? I am leaving for there later today.

Charging the Quantas airfare to Meg. Gotta do what I gotta do.

Gonna meet me some Quokkas, I am.

Will file dispatches from Down Under as time permits.

Title inspired by The Bangles.

  1. Does the quokka in the video have a lil baby in her pouch? Squeeeee!!!!!

  2. I have never heard of a Quokka before and they are definitely pukka.

  3. Photo 6 is the way I feel right now … AARRRGGGHHH !!!!
    (too much cuteness!)

  4. SCORCH! Eyeballs is fried…

  5. Those are some of the best pouchycheeks I’ve ever seen!! *Pinch!*

  6. It really is unfair how many cute animals are native to Down Under: Quokkas, koalas, wallabys (wallabies?), kangaroos, wombats… The list goes on and on.

  7. omg its a living anime character!! to cute!!!

  8. The earsies wiggling!!!

  9. *Qantas airfare. And yes, it’s worth it go hang out with those ‘lil guys.

  10. It seems as if Teddy Bear might have some competition for the cutest eater.
    Lurve me some Teddy Bear.

  11. The selfie is hilarious! Although I’m not sure if it is the quokka or the human that is photobombing the other.

  12. Tell me about it. Try living in the country right next door where we were blessed with only one species of native mammal, a teeny bat. Ugh, it’s so unfair.

  13. The quakkabomb has killed me ded. Ded, I say!!! *thud*

  14. That would be “quokkabomb,” not “quakkabomb.” Then again, not bad for a ded person. 🙂

  15. Quokkas look a lot like wombatses. Lerves me some of each, please. And I adore the smilingks! It makes me want to smile right back! :))!

  16. You really can’t help but smile when you see that face. So cute!

  17. Sort of a wombat+wallaby kinda thing, which looks slightly more plausible than the beaver+duck thing…

  18. But of course it’s from Australia. Cause they have some of the most adorable animals ever there. Right next to all the deadly poisonous ones. Le sigh

  19. Blue Footed Booby says:

Is it any consolation that they have several of the most dangerous spiders, snakes, crocodiles, sharks, and jellyfish?

  20. CO, you are the BEST. I was having a bad day and now it’s reversed thanks to these cutie-pies.

  21. Minimal, but thanks for trying!

  22. Riding a bike around Rottnest Island is well worth it as these little guys are everywhere, hence the name of the island – the silly Dutch explorers thought they were rats.

  23. Suddenly,I want whatever that is for a pet….

  24. lisaLASSIE says:

I have a question for CO. Do you dislike me? Are you trying to kill me for any particular reason….or just because …. YOU CAN!!!!

  25. Qte men of Cuteoverload Calender material? maybes?

  26. I bet there’s some evolutionary benefit to that permanent smile!!!

  27. always smiling!

  28. And shmiling whist shleeping…*Thud*

  29. Photo #6 just cracked me up!!!

  30. Good call, Ayaa. The rest of us were so distracted by the quokka we hardly noticed the qte guy!

  31. I was thinking the same thing, Berg. Between Australia with its cute native animals and Japan with its completely insane cuteness, America is left sadly lagging behind.

So was Shirley Temple, rest in peace. 😦
    She knew what was up:
    “Animal quokkas in my soup…”

  33. You’re killing me…..ARrOOOOOOO!

  34. The Bebbe tailio! in the video, I swear!

  35. Laura DragonWench says:

See, this is how Australia keeps convincing people to not only keep living there, but to also keep visiting there: it makes up for having the most deadly venomous snakes and spiders by having an equally great number of deadly cute marsupials and mammals. Oz is a sneaky country.

  36. Super cute of course, not too surprising beeing a quokka, but the selfie seems to disclose a so far unnoticed gift for humor, too…
