A Bug’s Life

“Here’s a cute picture of my daughter holding a Lady Bug. My daughter is 10 years old and has autism. About 3 years ago, she was very afraid of bugs. Now, she’s the bug expert in our house. She loves butterflies, bumblebees, ladybugs, etc.” -Stephanie S.

  1. YAY, for cute bugs and the kiddos who love them!

  2. Very cute picture for sure! Sounds like you have a little scientist in the making!

  3. I’ve read many accounts in which animals (dogs, cats, even chickens) have made a huge difference in reaching autistic children. Just so lovely.

  4. She’s doing much better than me. I love bumblebees, but I can’t bring myself to get near them.

This is an amazing thing to see! Good job to you both!

  6. I love when a ladybug flies in someone’s face and they freak out, and then feel silly when they realize it’s a ladybug. I’m actually guilty of this more than anyone else I know, haha.

  7. I always learn such cool stuff here on CO!

  8. hah I love lady bugs !! I used to catch them and play with them so much … You just brought about my childhood memories. Lovely photo.

  9. that’s great! colorado is a special place, for sure 🙂

I like to pet bumblebees when they are feeding. Sometimes their fur is so soft you can’t really feel it.
