And Then Along Comes Jari

Education Specialist Lucy B. of the Jackson (Mississippi) Zoo wrote us an email, and sez: “Hi there! I work at the Jackson Zoo in Mississippi, and as a super fan of your page, I thought that these pics of our new baby gibbon would be perfect for you. B/C is there nothing cuter? I don’t think so.” [You’re right. -Ed]

Jari feeding
“These are pictures of Jari, a female white-handed gibbon born on November 22, 2013. She was a very welcomed early Christmas present. Her parents are Mia and Cookie-Man.” [COOKIE MAN? Great name. -Ed]

Jari glamour shots
“Unfortunately, Mia doesn’t have a reliable parenting history, so Jari was whisked off to be cared for by the veterinary staff. Our vet tech Donna has the task of feeding her every 2-3 hours, 24 hours a day.” [Donna needs Red Bull. -Ed]

Jari hold on
“Jari is name after the Indonesia word for ‘fingers,’ because as a gibbon she needs to have long arms and fingers to help her swings through the trees. Hope you love her as much as we do!” [Roger that. -Ed]

Jari Not Another picture
“All photos were taken by Chris Todd. You can check out pics on our Facebook page.”

  1. I’m not a big monkey fan but Jari is adorable! Like those troll dolls from the 70’s – but actually cute!!

I wish though that Jari had a real mommy to hold and hug her.

  2. Transpogue says:

Oh my goddess, that face! Can you imagine how soft she is?? So glad she has loving hoomins to look after her.

  3. ITA. She’s so sweet.

  4. Mary (the first) says:

    Very, very sweet!!

  5. sabrina rose says:

Oh. My. Gosh. Jari is beyond adorable!! I’d be glad to take a shift of feeding her!

  6. Oh my stinking gosh! *klunk*

  7. Aww! Squee baby!

  8. I got a chuckle out of “a reliable parenting history.”
