THIS JUST IN: The National Zoo Panda Name Is….

Bao-BaoBao Bao! The Washington Post says that means “‘precious or treasure’ and is pronounced ‘bough bough.'” The National Zoo website says she will make her public debut next month!

  1. Hello Bao Bao!

  2. Bao-Breaking News!

  3. “Hmmmm! Do that again! Bao Bao Bao…”

  4. The Panda baby in Vienna is going to be called “Fu Bao” – I guess the Chinese name givers weren’t on their most original this year 🙂

  5. Baby Panda looks like this. :3

  6. She’s (rockstar panda) Tai Shan’s sistah! Eep!

  7. What an appropriate name. “Precious Treasure” she is indeed. 🙂

  8. Too bad this little one doesn’t know how to smile.

  9. That was my violin teacher’s dog’s name! (Ignoring different characters and accents) * sniffle* I miss that shitzu… RIP

  10. Kari Callin says:

I’m semi-addicted to their Panda cam. It’s pretty funny watching , especially now. If you can catch the wee one when she’s awake, and chewing on Mom, trying to get her to play, Mom reaches her breaking point very quickly. What Mom then proceeds to do is shove her along the floor like a hockey puck, out the small enclosure, through the secondary room, to the third room. It’s So funny! 😀

  11. Boa Bao is a widdle boo boo! 🙂
