The Big J blasts us to bits with The Cute. Check out these different edible pandas OM NOM NOM. I have made a decidedly feeble attempt to ID these various items, and I bow to the greatness that is RocketNews24.com.

  1. I love cute food! I really need to buy a rice mold.

  2. AARRRGGGGHHH !!! Panda (Cuteness) Attack !!

  3. Ok, I just have to say that these people are insane. In a good way. 🙂 Live and let live, I say. Whatever makes you happy. Que sera, que sera. Etc etc… 🙂 🙂

  4. You can buy the mold and nori cutter set for the Panda Origini for like $3 on eBay. They’re awesome.

  5. At this chain Chinese supermarket called T&T here in Canada, we have Panda buns with black sesame filings. http://www.urbanspoon.com/rph/14/1443551/890360/vancouver-t-t-supermarket-photo
    Also, piggy buns!

  6. I really want to nom on all the panda breads.

  7. phred's mom says:

    Looks like a pandemic here.

  8. phred's mom says:

    …another one from Asia

  9. *notes lack of Kawaii panda-ness in her own bento, lives vicariously*

  10. OK, I was holding it together until I got to the tray of pandas. Then I LOST EET. How do people even SURVIVE with so much CUTE?! It’s an amazing thing.

  11. Smartypants says:

#2 – some kinda steamed bun maybe?

Also – rice ball = ‘onigiri’ (my one word of Japanese, LOL!)

  12. I can’t believe noone’s said this yet….. “It’s Panda-monium”

  13. Mary (the first) says:

    “Like”! 😀

  14. Smallthunder says:

I want panda and piggy mochi floating in my bowl!
Anybody know where I can get some (without springing for airfare, of course)?

  15. whatthelump says:

#7 are the panda “waffles” from Cozy Corner: http://www.cozycorner.co.jp/campaign/2464.html
They have puppy and kitty ones too! They’re fluffy and pancakey, kinda like dorayaki but baked in a mold. The ones in the photo are filled with custard and strawberry cream, the page says.
#10 are chewy dumplings called shiratama for anyone interested, made from a specific type of rice flour. I’ve never seen them in animal form, so cute 😀

  16. #2 are steamed pork buns. A staple at any Dim Sum place. I love them, but mine never have pandas on them 😦
