We Already Knew Bears Have Many Talents,

But is tetherball one of them?

A tetherball-playing black bear, named Eli, at the Animal Ark Wildlife Sanctuary in Reno, Nev., giving us a Napoleon Dynamite final scene flashback! …”When you need a friend…” (When In Rome, The Promise)

  1. OMG! Love how he ducks his head to avoid being hit by the ball.

And look, another bear for me to love and snorgle with. (Remember my last attempt with this guy? cuteoverload.com/2013/08/21/ford-trux-built-polar-bear-tuff/ .) Surely this guy won’t eat me. Will it?

  2. This bear is very talented–especially at ducking. I probably would have gotten clobbered by the ball every time. What a cutiepie!

  3. awww, I grew up a couple miles from Animal Ark. It was one of my favorite places to go when I was a kid, my dad would take me all the time.

So impressed with that bear’s ducking skills! If I had a dollar for every time I hit myself in the head with a tetherball…

  4. If I had a dollar for every time I got smacked in the face by a tetherball, I wouldn’t be sitting in a cubicle right now…. 😦

  5. This is not your average bear! He plays better than most of the kids I see in the local playground.

  7. Jenny Islander says:

Aw, he’s got his play face on!

I love the whole “Must play with awesome ball but ARGH ARM WILL NOT STOP ITCHING” thing going on.

  8. Tee hee, I think it´s a man in a bear costume LOL.

  9. He ducks just enough to get himself clear. So neat!!!

  10. LOL I was thinking the same thing!!! When he would raise one foot up off the ground when he would whack the ball just about killed me! This made my day. But, yeah, could be a bearsuit…

  11. Not only is that crazy adorable; it proves that for far too long, humans have seriously underestimated the intelligence of the animals that share our planet.
