Cute Overload :D
Behold this little turbo-charged Horn Puffin at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Can he move, or what?
As seen on Los Gatos Patch. Shot by Bobbi W., submitted by Cuteporter Noelle Joelle H. If we can think of anyone else to credit, we’ll update the post.
omg so adorabuhls! I love when animals are very clearly playing with hoomins..
But she nearly wore him out… he was huffin’ and puffin’…
It amazes me the way the young of any species seems to recognise the young of others and wants to play. I suspect the puffin was just reacting to something it hoped was edible, but I like to think otherwise.
It was at that very aquarium that a sea otter, handed his midafternoon snack of shrimp frozen into a block of ice, decided to carry it down to the Plexiglas viewport and wham it into bits right in my daughter’s face. She thought it was awesome. He thought it was awesome. He did it again and she (age two) about turned herself inside out.
I think the critters at Monterey Bay Aquarium treat the viewports as giant touch-screen gamepads put there for their amusement. “If I do this, what will the hairless ape-creatures get up to?”
What a lovely story about your daughter.
I thought the same thing about the amusement of the animuhls….”Oh look, they changed the hoomin display today”
I loved it but… it made me sad to see McPuffinson’s disappointed face when the little girl left. I think he’d have played with her forever. :)
It’s Joelle, not Noelle!
hehe .. Some one’s got Butterfingers (or if it was the ‘Web Puffin’ .. Butter Flippers)
Okay, this was awesome. I got up not wanting to take my morning walk, and I saw this and thought to myself, “Well, the puffin is happy getting (his?) exercise, I really should do mine as well!”
Also, as a lifetime puffin fan, I would’ve squee’d a lot had that happened to me as a kid!
Who is having more fun .. the girl or the puffin ? hehe
I love the bouncy thwappity swimming on the water’s surface!! That is some happy swimming!!
GÀÀAAAAAAAAH you have kilt me ded. Where’s my puffin?
This is awesome!
The harbor seals at the New England Aquarium do this too – they’ll follow your lead, or they’ll do a move and wait for you to follow – lots of fun!
To the mama in the video — do let the little one and the puffin play and play. This won’t happen again for her and there’s not going to be anything more important to do than make this memory!
Wonderful how they keep eye contact and pace with each other!
GAH! *queues up in the puffin line*
I WANT A PUFFIN!!!
Am I the only one who didn’t know they went under water?
I knew they went under water, but not that they were as happy in the water as above it.
