Flashback Friday

Meet Horace, the bright-eyed, domesticated hare of Dublin, Ireland, 1956, who, “hops blithely through the kitchen, hanging out in the bathroom or sitting quietly on the living room sofa” and “holds sway in the household, and the humans are there, for the most part, simply to do Horace’s bidding.”

  1. Horace? Surely his name is Harvey.

  2. This is fantastic! I especially like that he loves to jump on the bed.

  3. Smartypants says:

    This is charming!

Totally worth checking out the whole slideshow – watch his hoomin (a staid-looking zookeeper) towing him around on a rug for playtime!

  4. Now why can’t this happen to me?… Sleeping…. a big ole beautiful hare flies through the window!!!!

  5. Killer Klown says:

“holds sway in the household, and the humans are there, for the most part, simply to do Horace’s bidding.”

    So, nothing’s changed then?

  6. sabrina rose says:

“Handsome Horace the Hare” – what a terrific bun! He must have been a wonderful pet. He certainly lends a needed male presence to the frills and frippery of that 50s bedroom! Sigh…takes me back to my girlhood. I LOVE Flashback Fridays!

  7. Bouncing on the bed!

  8. “When bedtime comes, Horace usually acts as if he’s asleep and forces Webb to pick him up and carry him to outside run.” I love seeing animals that are so exquisitely spoiled. :)

  9. Anyone else expect Mrs. Bates to intercept Horace at the top of the stairs?

  10. Rabbits sort of _demand_the spoiling, except they think it’s just the natural order of life!

  11. Loving the house decor! What a fun and cozy scene!

  12. Oh no, a gray hare!!!
