THIS JUST IN! The Long National Wait Is Almost OVER

Tomorrow morning, The Smithsonian’s National Zoo will be announcing the sex and paternity of their new panda cub! We will bring you the latest info, natch.

(Thanks to Maniac Cuteporter Nicole K., who is apparently highly caffeinated and is gonna stay up all night for this.)

  1. Such a tiny, vulnerable creature…yet so impressively loud! Then the “Mama Cuddle” at the end…swoon and thud!

  2. Guess when you are that little, you have to be loud so nothing sits on you!

  3. When do they get out of that tiny jail cell? Baby panda should be walking on earth not concrete. It’s wonderful but it makes me sad too.

  4. For a second there I thought Mama Bear was gonna snatch up that icky roach scampering in the lower left corner. And didn’t you love the snarly little baby growl when Mama scooped up Grumpy Baby?

  5. 🙂

    Such a cutie pie!

  6. Don’t be sad. I’m sure the panda and baby are being confined for their own protection. Panda babies don’t have the best survival rate so their caretakers need to keep a close eye on the baby until it’s bigger.

  7. I submitted a link to the fuzzy twins cubs here in The Big Peach and was not clever enough, I guess 😦 but check them out!

There is panda-cam too, at the Zoo Atlanta site.

  10. Answer to hovertext: IT. IS. A. BABY 🙂 …….never mind what gender……all babies are beautiful!

  11. So when MomPanda picked up bebeh she said “I can’t believe it’s not butter”? 😀

  12. Killer Klown says:

    Baby Panda Bobblehead.

  13. Yep, she is a girl and the still born fetus was also female. They would of been fraternal twins. 😦

  14. The father for both was Tian Tian
