It appears that in the 1800s pugs decided to class it up with boas and bells.
No more rumply schlumply for these pugs’ classy chassis.

Interesting how Pug snozzles have gotten shorter over time… Portly Mr. Bell there looks almost puglesque.
I noticed that too. Many breeds, esp. those with the wrinkly, short muzzles, look so much more so now than in the past.
I prefer to imagine that it’s a mutant pug with really long fluffy arms
I’m not so sure we shouldn’t go back to “heritage” versions of the breeds; it might be healthier for them.
