And They Call It Hippo Love

And they called it hippo love
They’ll never really know a hippopotamus
How a young hippo really feels
And why their love is so redonkulous…

Peeps, here is Jessica; Tonie and Shirley Joubert’s pet house hippo. She even gets a bedtime massage before being tucked in under her blankie, which is pink, of course. Gah!

  1. SlaveToCat says:

I always wondered what happened to Henrietta Hippo from the New Zoo Revue.
Glad she found a nice retirement home.

  2. A.) This is strange and awesome and just slightly scary.
B.) I was sad for a few seconds in there when she stepped on her sibling’s paw. OUCH!

  3. Transpogue says:

Hippo massage WITH fuzzy pink blankie and side-cuddling dog…seriously.

Yeah, I wouldn’t want to leave, either.

  4. She had really friendly eyes, not exactly what you’d expect from a hippo.

  5. Sharon Wilson says:

This reminds me of the old Mug Root Beer commercials: The first thing you want to teach your hippo is: “Roll over.” The next thing you want to teach your hippo is “Get off! Get OFF!”

  6. In the most un-whiny voice I’m capable of, “I would like a massage like the hippo gets.” (Nodding in a, “yes” manner)

Or we can go full Varuka from Wonka, “Daddeeee, I want a Hippo Massage!” Hands on hip stamping my foot!

  7. Love the pink blankie patterned with butterflies. :-)

  8. Wondering what would happen if Jessica brought friends home to play from the wild hippo pod.

  9. Where in the world do those giant fangs go when they close their mouths?! That’s a real question actually, I was trying to get a good look but they just seem to disappear!

  10. Oh. My. Freaking. Gahd! That’s right up redonk. I can’t decide if I want to be the hoomins or the hippo!

  11. She must have been the most adorable thing as a baby. Now I want a Pygmy Hippo…

  12. Shirley Judy says:

Is this the hippo I saw on TV years ago? Watching her fills me with great happiness.
So glad I ran into her tonight online. Thanks. The pink blanket slays me. She does look very sweet and gentle.

  13. Or, what happens once she has a baby. What if she gets territorial…in their living room. Yikes!

  14. How do you housebreak a hippo?

  15. Very carefully?
