Kleenex Ready, People?

Big Ol’ Bugaboo hasn’t seen his hoomin Lt. Gary D. in six months+, and it’s time to make up for that! I’d get out an entirely new tissue box before hitting the button. The lighting on this one is a little dodgy, but it’s worth it.

  1. standonthewall says:

    Awww…. tissues please!!

  2. She’s crying with joy. What a marvelous demonstration of emotion.

  3. Stressfactor says:

I love the tailio going a mile a minute as well. Goggie says: “My hoomin is back and don’t ever leave me again!”

  4. marthava says:

    Gah…TWO boxes of tissues…

  5. omg baby-style into the lap NEVER LEAVE ME AGAIN OK!?!

  6. For once I’m happy that my workplace blocks youtube, I wouldn’t want my coworkers to see me crying like a baby. I’ll watch it at home with kleenex at the ready.

  7. i love the giant lap dog – and how is so much calmer and settled by the end after some good snuggles and chatting with daddy.

  8. And she says “I love you” a few times too!

  9. Jenny Islander says:

Re-examination of the “alpha, beta, omega” pack structure studies suggests that they’re a bunch of hooey; in the wild, wolves and feral dogs organize themselves into families, and the boss couple are Mom and Dad.

Which you can clearly see by this–who am I kidding AWWWWW TAIL and later on DADDY IF I GRAFT MYSELF TO YOUR LAP YOU WILL NEVER LEAVE ME AGAIN OK OK OK?????

  10. Yes! At 1:35 she says it twice.

WELCOME HOME Lt. Gary!!! We are all happy you are back safe. ❤

Well, I am off to buy more tissues now. I used them all watching this beautiful video…

  11. Tony James says:

Can we have a side-by-side comparison of when ObersturmbahnPuddinkWerfer Te-H0 returns, with various kittehs doing the “Meh. You’re home. And? You going to feed me or what?” apathy waltz?

  12. Dog Lover says:

Tsk tsk, mollykubik, didn’t you know – dogs don’t have emotions. 🙂

I love stuff like this – it never ever gets old and I never ever fail to cry tears of joy over these canine/hoomin reunions. Welcome home, Lt. Gary, and thank you so much for your service.

  13. SweetRoisinDubh says:

Maybe my cat is weird, but she gets so excited when I return from being away for a while. She once stayed with my parents while I was out of town for two weeks. When I came to pick her up, I barely had her name out of my mouth when she came sprinting down the steps and climbed up my leg and into my arms.

That aside, I’m so happy to see a soldier returned safely to his dog. 🙂

  14. I was ok until the “baroooo” at about 1:20 .. *snf* ..

  15. SuburbanPrairie says:

Welcome home, Lt. Gary! I thank you, your wife, and your sweet Bugaboo for your service and sacrifice. ♥

  16. Sniffle – that is pure awesome. My husband is in the USAF too, and he gets that treatment from four dogs when he returns from deployment. (PS Gary is a Captain, not a Lieutenant).

  17. Says LT in the end-credits. Youtube says there’s some sort of joke in the credits. He could be Navy. Or the demotion could be the gag. Scuse me while I avoid further controversy and watch some more tailio powering-up-for-takeoff action.

  18. I heard it several times. *sniff* grumble…grumble…darned allergies….

  19. Aw, Dogs must have souls and love in their hearts to show such emotion after missing their human. I have a lab and he demonstrates his love when I return after a trip (thankfully I’m not gone for 6 mos).

  20. So much love. So many tears. Beautiful.

  21. Okay…is it just me or is that dog belting out an “I love you” or two?!?

  22. Lavren Beeh says:

Doooh! you made me cry! Sniff! Sniff! So so so sweet! Made my day.

  23. You have to see the video of the cat in the same scenaro. HYSTERICAL!
of course, this is hysterical in another way.
    I wanna dog!

  24. Cute and sad? I don’t know. I watch these videos, and the dogs are obviously so darn happy and excited, but as always I try to imagine what they’re thinking, and I imagine something along the lines of: “I thought you were never ever coming back, EVER! I thought you were DEAD!!” which is sad. Maybe it’s just me.

  25. I’m thinking Navy. The rank insignia for a LT in the Navy is the same as for a CAPT in the other services.

Also, the other services have 1LT and 2LT, but not just a plain LT, another piece pointing to the Navy.

Gee, can ya tell Dad was in the Navy and I spent wayyyyyyyy too much time on Naval bases? 😉

  26. 6rabbits says:

I was okay until the poor pup starting baroo-ing and making all those agonizing sounds–it tore at my heart! It’s like the pup thought his dad had passed away and he’d risen from the ded!

  27. Aw my boss’s doggy does that when I come in in the mornings, but I always thought she just wanted me to let her outside. Maybe she loves me 🙂

  28. Cambridge Rat Mom says:

    Without any question, they do.

  29. kittykat416 says:

No kidding – I watched this and thought “Man, I need to get a dog. I leave my cats for one day or a month, and they want nothing to do with me…”

  30. Michelle says:

God bless you, dear man, and your family, Thank you for your service! You do realize, though, that you’ll never be able to leave the house again…

  31. I’ve heard that this is a defense mechanism. They are unhappy that you left, so to deal with it, they convince themselves that they didn’t need you in the first place. See? Cats care, they just care too much for their brains to handle!

  32. Tee hee, looks like the guy himself will need a box of Kleenex to wipe all that doggie slobber off his face! 😉

  33. I heard “Gary” too. Crying my eyes out. I hope all returning warriors the world over get such a reception on their return.

  34. Ahhh!! That was so sweet!! I have dogs who miss me when I go downstairs, I can’t imagine being gone 6 months. Oh, and Lt. Gary? Thank you for your service ❤

  35. Not my kitty – if I go out of town for a few days, I have to carry her around on my hip like a baby for about the first hour when I get home. If I try to put her down, she will jump right back up (even if I’m not ready, which means I have to catch her). It can be a little annoying at times, but can’t go wrong with a fur child that loves you that much.

  36. I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but you have a dog.

  37. The first time a video makes me cry ! –I mean of emotion, not of laugh.
Stomach ache because of this emotion too !
Also the first time I leave a comment.

  38. I think those noises sound like the noises wolves make when they are trying to organize a pack howl- a sign of pack solidarity and joy. The dog is expressing “We are a pack again!” in a way in an ancient way. It made me wish the human would start howling with him, silly as that might be.

  39. You need to be watching “True Blood.” The howling of the human/wolves is nearly as loud as the wolf whistles coming from couches all over the country.
