Cute Overload :D
Hong Kong is going quackers for a new visitor: Rubber Duck, an ongoing art project of Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman that first caught our eye in 2009.
It’s 9.5m tall by 11m long, and yet, through the magic of tilt-shift videography, it still manages to look like a toy:
Well that’s surreal.
I miss all the good stuff – I would have been all over the ducky last September when I was there. Amazing though~ that harbor is so busy! How can they just let that thing float amongst all the ferries and freighters?
The ducky is headed to North America Next I heard Canada for sure. I hope he comes to San Francisco.
How does one apply to become the driver of The Ducky? ‘Cuz I was MADE for this job.
It doesn’t look like it has a driver. Maybe just follows the ocean currents.
It’s being towed by tugboats. Victoria Harbour in HK is way too busy to allow it wander all over the place!
Rubber ducky, you’re the one~
you make bathtime lots of fun ~
Haha. It’s actually locked into place right outside Victoria Harbour Mall.
And it being an inflatable duck makes it possible to transport it around the world without the risk of being eaten by a giant shark!
Bring him to Baltimore!
Seems Mr. Duck (why do I think of them as “him”?) was towed in and is now anchored until June 9th. There is a inflatable sculpture show on land at the same time. Here are the other inflatables http://supertouchart.com/2013/05/01/artist-paul-mccarthy-shits-on-china/
Warning – not all of them are as family friendly as the duck!
Does anyone else want to just climb on top of the ducky and go for a ride? It’d be like taking a big ol’ bouncy castle out for an ocean cruise I think.
