  1. Look at that raccoon’s little hands! He’s all like, “oh my, for me?” So polite.

  2. joools in PDX says:

The rabbit owns my soul. The ears. The feet. The head tilt.
But re: the raccoon, it’s really not a good idea to feed wild animals, sorry.

  3. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
None, woodchucks prefer to chuck ice cream.

  4. That first pic is gorgeous. The lighting makes that little girl look like something in an Old Masters.

  5. phred's mom says:

Yea, verily…not good, for all concerned.

  6. But where’s he gonna find a woodchuck dentist when his teefies rot from the sweets?

  7. Agreed…I think I spent more time looking at the girl than the bunny at first.

  8. cuz, you know, in a thousand years or so, they might own us, like the dogs and rabbits and cats have…

  9. yurp. it’s got the magic triangle of composition. the carrot, the rabbit’s head and ears, and the girl’s arm, are on the base; then you look up to her face. then you follow her gaze back to the rabbit and the carrot. and you get the muted colors and the white rabbit and the blue shirt and the bright orange carrot. and then there’s the girl’s perfect mona lisa smile.

this is now officially one of my two or three favorite c.o. pics ever

  10. Martha in Washington says:

So seriously…who just decides one day, “hey, let’s give the woodchuck an ice cream cone?”

  11. As Aldo Leopold once so beautifully said, “There is no distance between me and that whistle-pig [woodchuck]. Okay, I made that up. But it’s true none-the-less.

  12. lisaLASSIE says:

Exactally. And a little ice cream cone to fit perfectly in his adorable little hands.

  13. The composition’s perfect but still, that lighting is so striking. The translucent rabbit ears that look like fine ceramics, that reflective table and the unearthy white of the fur against the shadows? How her brown hair picks up the sun so that she looks like something from Botticelli?

Reminds me of those shots by Bill Gekas of his daughter.

  14. Second the praise for the first photo; magnificent photography.

Do rabbits actually like carrots, or is that a misconception from Bugs Bunny cartoons? I’m sure they’ll EAT them, but do rabbits maybe actually go after carrot greens, the leafy stuff above the ground? When rabbits get in the garden and eat your carrots, are they maybe eating the leaves?

Also, not to be a nuffer, but ice cream can’t actually be good for a woodchuck, and a sugar cone’s not ideal either. So I hope that’s only an occasional thing.

  15. Hurry, hurry, step right up and see the harmonica-playing raccoon! He takes requests! he doesn’t play the requested songs, but he’ll let you ask!

  16. maxtben1 says:

No.7 is definitely a little old man in a critter suit. I totally adores the way he’s holding and consuming that icecream cone. So, so, so, so, so cute. And you know that’s cute overload right there!

  17. Trick question. Birds do not have teeth. 😉

  18. Eep, my mistake. I got my woodchucks and woodpeckers mixed up.
