“If that crazy hoomin’ with the camera would MOVE just a little we could watch the news!”

  2. GAH, crazy fuzzy bobbleheads!

  3. “Is that you Mom? Dad? Aunt Bertha? Professor Dumbledore, sir?”

  4. Queen of Dork says:

I love how their faces/heads are shaped like hearts!

  5. I think I love them because they’re like cats with wings. Adorable little killing machines with soulful eyes and love scritches.

  6. they’re trying to figure out what part of the film crew is a mouse

  7. That silly head-flailing is actually a sort of threat display barn owls do… presumably because it leaves the would-be-attacker completely baffled. You can find lots of videos of adults doing the same thing. It’s only very slightly more intimidating. 8|

  8. flutterby says:

Bobbleheads has got to be the best description!

  9. Yes, I thought that was the case — I remember another video being passed around of a group of owls doing something similar, except that one was supposed to ‘prove’ how ‘evil’ owls are.

Perhaps it’s supposed to be intimidating because it mimics snake behavior? I’ve heard that’s why cats put their ears back and hiss when cornered.

Thank you for explaining that – my gut response was that these guys were too, shall we say, primal en masse to activate my cute response.

  12. I think these guys are going through their awkward adolescent stage….still cute, though!

  13. Yep, that’s my favorite part too. The little guy on the lower right doesn’t have such pronounced facial markings so he’s actually my fave (I always go for the oddball). :)

  14. Blue Footed Booby says:

I’ve seen a video that was a lot like this, except one of the owlettes was horking down a mouse. It made the head dance thing all the more surreal.

  15. Blue Footed Booby says:

Oh man, did anyone else see the related video with a juvenile crow attacking a guy’s tattoos?

  16. phred's mom says:

    Crow is making social commentary
