Lucy K. found this little fellow named Draco on The Facebook. Her take? “Baby goat in a sweateuw made from a sock? Yes, please.”

I’m not sure if it’s a rule of Qte, but it should be: If it can wear a sock as an outfit, it’s cute.

    A tube goat — that’s a first for me.

Well . . . “sock it to me” wasn’t just something Nixon said. It was Laugh-In’s catch phrase (sometimes said by a very young Goldie Hawn) and generally a popular expression at the time. Listen to the background singers on Aretha Franklin’s “Respect” (who happen to be Franklin’s sisters, if I may squeeze some trivia into my trivia): They are singing “Sockittome, sockittome, sockittome, sockittome.”

Also, I once read somewhere that the people at Laugh-In (was it still on?? maybe it was another show) tried to get Nixon to come back on after he’d resigned and say, “I once appeared here and told you to ‘Sock it to me.’ You can stop now.” He declined.

Laugh In and the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour were the funniest shows ever!

    • The Original Jane says:

The all time funniest ever was the Carol Burnett show! I wish I had enough money to buy the DVD’s they keep advertising.

      • Gigi says:

You are absolutely right, in fact The Carol Burnett Show saved me from going into a deep depression as I was stuck in my room in a body cast for 3 months as a fifteen year old after a back operation.

The best part was watching Harvey try not to crack up.

    Say “good night” Dick.

    Good night, Dick.

And I endorse a “knitted” or “sweateaw” tag.

    That is all.

I had a Laugh-In lunchbox in the late 60s/early 70s that I used to love. I rotated it with my Partridge Family, Beatles, and Sonny & Cher lunchboxes. I thought I was just so cool in the Willard School cafeteria.

Color me old. Laugh-In was decades ahead of its time and I think it had SNL beat by a mile with its creativity and risk-taking.
