Rupert Aces the Audition

All right, it says here your name is Rupert, very nice to meet you. If you could turn to the left so we could get a profile, please…

No, your left; OK, never mind. Now, in this picture, you’d be playing a character with lots of pent-up anger, seething and boiling within him until he can’t take it and he explodes with rage. So start from page six and let’s see what you can do…

No, that’s kind of a happy look. Show us some anger…

Ah, let’s try something else, forget the script for a minute. You’re poor and hungry, you’ve been waiting in line for hours, and just when you get to the counter, the lady says “sorry, we ran out of soup, come back tomorrow.” Aaaaand, go.

Uhhhmmm… right.

Well, we’ve got your headshot, and we’ll let you know if anything comes up. Next…

Via Andrea Arden, dog trainer.

  1. Puppers, you can star in MY movie! What a cutiepie.

  2. MarvinCat says:

    That is one cute doggie!!

  3. Rupert is adorable, and he’s such a cool color! Almost reminds me of a dilute calico kitty…

  4. yaaayyy eyebrow dots! and flappy ears! and underbite!

  5. NTMTOM… crack me up…….and Rupert, you are SO adorables!!!!! You can “audition” for me anytime..*wink*wink*

  6. Eyebrow doooooots!!! Oh, oh and BEEEEP!!

As a side note: What is he/she – this pupper is so stubbular, and so much extra skin it is keeeling me!

  7. SlaveToCat says:

Rupert is really happy and all proud of himself. I wonder what he did.

  8. Rupert reminds me of the alien “dog” in the movie John Carter. He also has eyebrow dots and looks like a happy, little clown dog. I love him.

  9. OMG, how stinkin’ adorable! What a SMOOCHABLE snoot!

Also, NTMTOM pastes another one out of the park! Don’t miss the hoovertexts! 😆

  10. Looks like English bulldog. Extra-Smiley variety. 😀

  11. Mary (the first) says:

I know, blond eyebrow dots are the best, right? And the smiles!!

  12. PS: “RUPERT.” 😀

  13. Beautiful dogger!

  14. Awww, he looks so happy, happy, happy, happy, happy and then confuzzled.

  15. I dunno, looks to me like a Staffy. They’re always smiling.

  16. Hey laaaaaadyyyyy, is Rupert related to Jerry Lewis?

I seem to have fallen hopelessly in loff with him. *thud*

  17. Oh, for Pete’s sake. I hope he at least got some soup.

  18. Laaaaaaaaaady with the laaaaaaaaaaaaadle! 😆

  19. *Waving frantically* Peeps, peeps, there are MO pictures of Rupert! Page says he’s a bulldog. Says “It was very hard to stay focused looking at that face!”

    Rupert the Bulldog
  20. ThirdShift says:

“The dog has only one look, for Christ’s sake! Blue Steel? Ferrari? Le Derpa? They’re the same face! Doesn’t anybody notice this? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!”

  21. Blue Footed Booby says:

It’s like someone left the happy retriever face out in the sun and it faded and then melted.

  22. Nice reminder of a beloved movie. Thanks, Thirdshift!

  23. Oh NTMOTM…you haf me in stitches in my office. that hoovertext was the best!!!
And the chubb!!! and the eyebrow dots!!! and the paws!!! I am ded.

  24. He looks a little like an Old English Bulldog. I had heard they are trying to bring back the old type bulldog because the modern breed has too many health problems with their breathing. Anyway a very good looking happy pup!

  25. twocityshibas says:

Wrinkly puppy, with dots for eyebrows, mugging for the camera?? *sigh*
(Yay, Andrea Arden is a CO fan! Her trainers are awesome!!!)

  27. applies smelling salts to ded Emmylee — hopes for tha best —

  28. Well I believe that’s exactly what happened!

  29. humminbirdie says:

haha–‘hoovertexts’, cuz teh Qte will suck yer brains out!!! yay, Rupert!!!

  30. I always love that variety!

  31. Eyebrow dots, cheerful smile, flappity ears, chub rolls, tail nubbin — Rupert has good stuff going on EVERYWHERE!

  32. Linda, Jazzy and Blue says:

Bulldog mix, right? Bulldog/beagle, perhaps? Gotta be a mix…

  33. emmberrann says:

Wotta smile! Rupert is charming! He just has to be on everyone’s bff list. And hecan be in my productions as soon as I write one that someone agrees to back.

  34. File this in “The Check’s in the mail” File ….

    (JK emmberrann 🙂 )

  35. Oh my gosh! Who manufactured this perfection of puppy-ness?

  36. Theresa says:

  37. Smallthunder says:

That is one ridiculously adorable dog. So ridiculously adorable, in fact, that the cuteness level is practically lethal.
Absolutely insane, you know, allowing that mug out in public.
    Rupert’s a public menace — a menace! I tell you!
Why, there ought to be a law …

  38. Peeps, I have come back about 566895352 times today just to look at Rupert’s smoochable mug.

  39. Indeed! 😀

  40. Surprise in the laundry basket?

  41. Oh YOU’RE the one who saw “John Carter.” 😛

  42. and rolls! and extra muzzle mushiness.

  43. O … M … G …

  44. Me too. We might need to start some kind of support group or 12 step program to end this Rupert-induced madness.

  45. Rachael says:

Makes you wonder how Rupert’s hoomans manage to get anything done with that insane qteness staring them in the face. 🙂

  46. Sugitomo, “confuzzled” is now my favorite new word…and it describes little Rupert’s expression in the last picture perfectly!

  47. Theresa, I have come back about that many times and for the same reason! That and NTMTOM’s awesomeness…this post is one of his best! Poor Rupert…he may not be a contender for any acting awards but sure he wins The People’s Choice Award (at least the CO peeps) for Most Adorable Doggie! 🙂

  48. also also? Rupert would be an AWESOME cartoon doggeh, No more awesome than the Actual Doggeh, ‘course, but pretty cute, nonetheless …

  49. whawhawhatsis says:

I have a question for all you brilliant COers. How can I read the hovertext when I’m looking at CO on my Kindle? Please tell me there’s a way — it just feels like I’m only getting half the entertainment without the hovertext!

  50. Regrettably, you probably can’t. Touch devices aren’t designed to display the hovertext (properly known as the “Title” attribute).

There is a technique for reading the hovertext that works on Apple devices; I don’t know if it can be applied to other platforms such as the Kindle. Caution: It’s rather complex to implement, but otherwise harmless. If you want to try it, click here:

  51. Little crooked baby toofers. I love that doggie.

  52. emmberrann says:

That’s ok, FB, I haven’t written the first line of the screenplay yet. Or even the working title.

  53. ….however rest assured that the Corporation Believes in you 🙂

  54. Smallthunder says:

Hello. My name is Smallthunder … and … and I am a Rupert addict.
