I think it is all that water in the washing machine. Kitties tend to keep their distance, leaving a security gap for the sock ninjas to make their move.

Exactly my problem with this video. I know it’s a fake because everyone I know who loses socks, loses them either from the hamper or from the washer/dryer. I think whoever made this video is covering for the real culprits.
