Day 4: Still not floating. Felt momentarily lighter, but that turned out to be just gas. Will continue experiments tomorrow with more balloons.
Curtis S. tells us: “This tortoise lives at a pet supply store called Animal Kingdom in Brewster, NY. His name is Turbo and he’s allowed to wander the store with balloons attached so everyone knows his location. He’s very sweet.”

Are those buck teeth? Hello David Letterman!
Wait, looks more like Hannibal! yikes!
I don’t know…this reminds me too much of a not-so-nice news story of a tortoise who had to be rescued from a tree because some lame-brain tied balloons to him and sent him flying.
Yup, because this is totally the same thing.
Better than GPS!
Turbo the tortoise! Sounds like a great name for a cartoon. But he needs more balloons to get lift off.
Love the monster music: Attack of the tortoise
That is “Mars, the Bringer of War” from The Planets by Gustav Holst, one of my favorite works of classical music.
Indeed! I think it lends the tortoise added gravitas.
Me, too – but then again, all tortoises have a certain gravitas. They’re amazing creatures, even with balloons attached to them!
I don’t think they have a “certain” gravitas, they have LOTS !!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a great idea, to let tortoise have some exercise and yet be safe/.
Yup, I loff it too.
They named their turtle Turbo. classic.
OMGPonies!!! I shop in that same center all the time. and I’ve been missing it!
I shop there all the time! Turbo is awesome and the staff and clients love him!! He is a rescue and they give him a wonderful permanent home.
this guy is always welcome to come visit me in my home !!! GOD bless him !!!
